I have the animated Disney films in chronological order. Then I have the Studio Ghibli films in chronological order. I have my Disney Treasures in alphabetical order.

I have my Disney DVD's in the order of the Animated together in the order of their release dates and the Live Actions by the order of their release dates. I have always had my DVD'S in that order!

Since I didn't see this listed by anyone else, I just organize ALL my DVDs by straight alphabetical order. I do not separate Disney from other film companies. I love the Disney DVDs, but Disney is now just one part of my overall love of films.

My collection is just in alphabetical order as is my non-Disney collection.

So far? In order that I've gotten them (Pirates, Beauty and the Beast, Dinotopia).

Well, working in a library, I'm quite anal about my DVD collection.

My DVDs are divided into 4 distinct sections: Feature films; music DVDs; Disney stuff & TV on DVD.

The Feature film section of the Loomis Municipal Library is arranged largely in alphabetical order, with a few exceptions (all the James bond are together at the front, under 007; trilogies such as the Evil Dead are together, even though 'Army of Darkness' does not start with an 'E'; my View Askew movies have a custom box, so they are all under 'V' etc....).

Music DVDs are arranged alphabetically by artist, or in the case of a compilation, by the title of that compilation.

The Disney section! Takes up a bit of space, let me say...The first shelf has all the 'classics' together alphabetically (thinking of arrangeing chronologically though). The next shelf has the Pixar films, followed by DTVs and Pooh. Finally, special collections (e.g. Treasures; Frank and Ollie) and Live action (of which I only have about a dozen), take up the final shelf.

The TV on DVD is all over the place. The Star Trek Feature films share a shelf with the ST box sets of the TV shows, and the Simpsons, X-Files and other TV shows are there. Buffy and Angel are tucked away in a cupboard, because there is simply too many of them.

I keep the Miramax/Touchstone/etc stuff seperate, with the exception of Roger Rabbit and Nightmare Before Christmas.

1.I start with the thicker, slip cover, "A-List" releases:
Pirates, B&B, TLK, TLK1.5, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Alice, Roger, Nemo, Bug's Life

2.That's followed by animated movies in regular cases:
Toy Story, New Groove, Nightmare,

3.Then we have the Gold Collection Animated DVDs (matching spines):
Sword In The Stone, Black Cauldron

4.Then the Gold Collection Live-Action DVDs (spines still match w/ GC):
Mary Poppins, Bedknobs, Pete's

5.Next is Hocus Pocus, b/c it looks good beside Pete's Dragon.

6.Then there's my random live actions:
Holes, Escape...Witch, Return...Witch, Tuck Everlasting

7.Then the two Santa Clause movies (Only watched at Christmas, at which time my DVD collection is rearranged for the holidays, so they get stuck at the end here)

8.Then my WDW Vacation Planning DVDs (2 of them)

9.And finally, the Snow White preview DVD (in a plain replacement case, so it looks bland).

I think it looks nice, and fits in well with my overall DVD collection .

I have several nice dvd cabinets and one is just for all my animation and disney live action. In that cabinet I have them all in theatrical order. (I replaced all my white boxes with black ones so that they match) If you want free black boxes go to your local blockbuster on a Tuesday and ask or look in dumpster I know that sounds weird , but they are free.

This is how the MMB keeps his collection:

- Animated Classics (Gold , Limited & Mics Ed. Tittles) from Pinocchio - Treasure Planet

- Animated Classic II (Collector's & Platinum Ed. Tittles) this include: Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty,Lion King, Tarzan, ENG, Atlantis, Dinosaur, Snow White, Bug's Life, Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo, Alice in Wonderland, Lion King 1 1.2.

- Sequels & Misc Include: School House Rock, House of Mouse, Disney's Legends, Miyazaki tittles, Vacation Planner, Walt Man behind the myth, Frank & Ollie, and a few sequel that I Like and some that I don't are located in this section of the MMB Library

- Live Action (Film from 30s - 70s ) Include: 20,000 Leagues, Old yeller, Polly, Parent Trap, Swiss Family, Love Bug, Babes in Toyland, Mary Poppins, Moon-Spinners, Bedknobs, Apple Gang, Escape To.., Pete's Dragon, Return from....

- Live Action II (film from 80-Present) Include: Something Wicked this way Comes, Watcher in the Woods, Tron, Roger Rabbit, Rocketeer, Newsies, 3 Musketeers, 101 Dalmatians, Remember the titans, Princess Diaries, Rookie, Tuck Everlasting, Holes, Lizzie Mcguire, Freaky Friday (2003), Pirates of the Carribean.

-Walt Disney Treasure (In Chronological Order)

-Disney Box Sets: Fantasia Anthology, Toy Box, Beauty and the Beast Box Set, Lion King Box set

This is just my Disney Collection

I have them organized chronologically, from first to latest.

The funny thing is, I have been thinking of posting a thread like this for quite a few days.
Well, I keep my Disney DVDs on a shelf, and I separate them in categories:
-Animated Classics (Chronological Order)
-Direct-to-video (Chronological Order)
-Cartoon Compilations (DVD Release Order)
-Pixar (Chronological Order)
-Live-action (Chronological Order)
-Special boxes (The Fantasia Anthology, The Lion King Collector's Gift Set)
-Walt Disney Treasures Tins (Chronological Order)

This has got to be one of the weirdest questions ... although I have to admit mine are in order too

'Double fat' cases, slipcases, boxes, Pixar, Live-Action all in chronological order.

Okok ... so I'm a control freak ... but it seems I'm not the only one.

It's funny how so many people organize their DVDs alphabetically. I can understand this with non-Disney collectors but for me, ever since I started buying Disney films on VHS, chronological order was the only thing that seemed logic. Especially when the spines are sometimes in English and sometimes in Finnish...

Almost all of my DVDs are animation, and they're organized chronologically according to companies. First the Disney Classics (standard/special/collector's editions all mixed), then other Disney (Dinosaur, the Treasures), Touchstone, Pixar, Dreamworks, Aardman and Fox.

I only collect Disney Animation. So... at the beginning of the shelf I have the Disney Treasures tins and the rest are organized chronologically according to the original release date.

I should add that my one year old daughter frequently reorganizes my collection - at least if you consider 52 pickup a way of organizing.

Well, this thread inspired me to re-organize . . . actually, to organize (because it wasn't really organized before) my Disney collection.

The Animated Classics: I put all the titles with slipcovers first, in chronological order. Then, I put all the titles withot slip covers in chronological order. As I said before, once I get more titles, I'll put all of them chronological order. But for now, it looks good on the shelf.

Well my dvd holder has 5 shelves, this is how it it organized for now,
The top shelf has no dvds right now, just one of my beautiful Ariel dolls. She is standing proudly in her gorgous salmon-colored gown.
The next shelf is my DISNEY SHELF! They are in order that they came out (chronological i guess it's called) They start with Snow White and (will) end with Brother Bear. They are all 2 discs except Peter Pan, Little Mermaid and the Belle sequals. I also put my Sing-Along Song dvds on that shelf, but I put them on the right so they are separated.
Then comes the next shelf. They are my (real-people) movies . They are in alphebetical order.
The next shelf is my (other animated) shelf This is also in alphabetical order and includes films like Shrek and Finding Nemo. On the right of that shelf I have my South Park Seasons 1, 2, and 3 dvd sets.
On the bottom shelf I have some of my Disney tapes (they all won't fit, so I just keep some of my favorites). They are in chronological order for the most part, but when my dvds grow, the tapes will go back to the living room.

I used to put them in the order i got them but now I put them in alphabetical order

My Disney DVD section is organized like this:

The "animated classics" (Snow White - Treasure Planet) in chronological order (I've only got a few, though, as I buy Disney DVDs just to supplement my more or less complete Disney laserdisc collection).

The WD Treasures, with the animated shorts first

Then whatever is left...

all my disney dvds are in alphabetical order with all the other dvds i have. i did have all the disney on a shelf together because i liked how all the discs with cardboard covers looked next to each other but then i started running out of space and there was extra space at the end of the shelf after every genre so i switched to all alphabetical so i could fit more dvds on my shelf. i also have a couple cd books filled up with discs that are in no particular order at all. you have to go through the whole book to find what you are looking for.
