You said it!
Seriously, about North-Korea hiring Chinese actors to play Korean supproters... that's not funny, man. It means North-Koreans aren't allowed out of their country. And I also heard that they get to see the matches only one day later and only if the Dear Leader approves...
This World Cup is interesting, because all the favorite teams are performing badly. Germany lost to Serbia; France lost to Mexico; Brazil only nearly won from North-Korea...

It's not so much that N. Korean can't attend to see, that's funny but going out to hire Chinese people to do the job.. It just seems so...random. Too me at least.

Indeed.

Wow! Holland won again. Now they're the only country to win two consecutive games, along with Argentina. Though it wasn't really a spectacular game, quite boring even.

Well, the US won Group C and advanced to the knockout round! They play Ghana at 2:30 PM ET tomorrow (Saturday) in the round of 16. If the US wins that match, they face the winner of Uraguay/South Korea in the quaterfinals.
I'm surprised no one has been discussing this. That goal in stoppage time against Algeria was very exciting, especially considering a tie would have eliminated the team.
I am really glad those controversial referee calls (the disallowed goal against Slovenia that cost them a win and 2 points in the standings, and the disallowed goal against Algeria that almost cost them the game - both goals seemed legit) ended up not hurting the team or costing them a spot in the knockout round.
They even still won their group despite losing the two points in the standings. If the US would have got second in the group, they would have had a much tougher draw with a match against Germany. Winning that match would have set up a probable match with Argentina. Both of these teams are seeded teams and world powers. By winning the group, the US avoids these teams, at least for now!

It's unbelievable: both France and Italy are already out of the tournament! The Netherlands are going to play against Slovakia next monday. I liked the game last thursday a bit better than those against Denmark and Japan.

... and the Dutch are past Slovakia and are sure of a place in the quarter finals!
Too bad about that penalty in the 93th minute (game should've been over anyway, and the penalty was definitly undeserved), but it still remained 2-1 for Slovakia.
Paraguay won from Japan, after 90 minutes, an additional 30 minutes and a series of penalty-shooting. Span won 1-0 from Portugal, and Brazil won 3-0 from Chile.
The Dutch team will face Brazil next Friday.

It would be so awsome to play the finale against the Dutch team. I really hope to see you (and of course the Germans) there.^^

Netherlands has been a high contestant for championship. my cousin who knows a lot about sports predict that Netherlands would probably make it to finals and even win it.

I haven't been on this forum as much since the Cup started. Anyway, as everyone knows now, the US lost. I was VERY unhappy with their defense, which messed up TWICE! Further, they had a number of good looks at the net and could not capitalize on them. As much as it pains me to admit this, they earned their loss. The US team can play much better then they did.
On the bright side, the US loss is good for Africa, whose sole country now is Ghana.
I'm rooting for Germany now, but I could see them, Argentina or Holland winning the whole thing! Spain would be a good fourth place bid. The Germany/ Argentina and Brazil/ Holland games will be EPIC!

Thanks for the name; now I know who to google. (I don't usually quote pics, but I think this is worth an exception...)
Another reason to love the World Cup: the future wife of Dutch player Wesley Sneijder, Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen:
I don't know about The Netherlands-Brazil... I still think Brazil will defeat them easily. The Dutch made a lot of stupid mistakes against Cameroun and Slovakia. Their goalie had to save them a *lot* of times because of the weaknesses in their defense. Holland can't get away with such mistakes against Brazil.

I hate them with passion!

Yeah, I know that vuvuzelas aren't very popular.... But I think they do have their uses. Like creating a distraction from horrible acting!

Seriously, though, they are super-annoying! But alot of people have been parodying them and stuff lately, it's pretty amusing. Someone hacked the game "Doom" and made the vuvuzela an undefeatable weapon....
