I just previewed the full album and am very disappointed, though not surprised, given that the first two singles had already lowered my expectations. One song stands out: "You Lost Me". That's enough for me to buy the album, I'm afraid. This will mark the first Aguilera album to not join my collection (well, aside from
Mi Reflejo and
Keeps Getting Better). I'm hoping that age and maybe even a decline in success will put enough distance between Aguilera and the Top 40 to enable her to focus on vocals and the kind of quality music that
almost defined
Back to Basics (at least Disc 2).
my chicken is infected wrote:All of the bonus tracks have hit the web, and to be honest, I prefer them over most of the tracks that made the standard edition of the album. I'm just not thrilled with this album as a whole - a bit too much filler for me.
Favorite tracks:
Elastic Love
Vanity
Monday Morning
Bobblehead
Birds Of Prey
I Am (Regular version and "Stripped")
Where'd you find the bonus tracks? I haven't heard any of those. It's encouraging that you prefer them to the standard album tracks.

Is it me, or does she just like to look like she is dead? That white hair and the deep black eyes and eye shadow, and I used to think she was a pretty woman, now she is butt ugly. I think someone needs to get a makeup artist and get the old Christine back. I will listen to her music, but after that horrible appearance on American Idol, I don't think I can stand to watch her anymore, unless she changes her "death" look.

You can find them on YouTube or, if you have the ability to recieve PM's, I may or may not be able to send you a link.

They are:
Monday Morning
Bobblehead
Birds Of Prey
Stronger Than Ever
I Am (Stripped)
Little Dreamer (only available if you get the deluxe edition from iTunes)

I haven't had time to listen to all the songs in their entirety, but I just listened to clips of each, and besides 2 or 3 that aren't very good, it sounds like a good album, especially the ballads. Amazon lists the Deluxe Edition as only $3 more than the regular, so I'm sure there won't be a big difference in price at Best Buy or Target, so I'll still be buying it!

This album is really good. I'm going to buy it at Target because they always have new releases at a decent price.

I finally checked out the Peaches duet, "My Girls," and it was supremely weak.

Will say it again. Who is doing Christine's makeup? She looks like she is on her death bed. What has happened to this very talented woman to go all white in hair and that stupid goth makeup?
I will listen but won't watch. She looks horrible in this new make-up style. I hope it is just a short trend for her, because I love her music, and used to be able to watch her all the time. But her performance on American Idol was terrible, and I don't understand why she has to look this way.
C'mon Christine, you are a beautiful woman, and now you have covered all that beauty with this terrible make-up.

Call it premature, but I think she'll live.

Watched David Letterman last night and Christine was beautiful. She wasn't all gothed out and looked like the very beautiful woman she is.
Now if they could only get it right the rest of touring season. Keep Christine beautiful...................she is a very talented woman and I love her dearly, but until I see two shows in a row with decent makeup I will still say she needs a good make-up artist in her repertoire.

Your Welcome. I agree too she sounds amazing.
Hopefully
Bionic does really well on the Billboard chart. As of right now Walmart.com has the album Out-of-Stock since Tuesday. I think people prefer the clean version over the explicit version because Walmart only sales the clean version.

According to
Hits Daily Double Christina Aguilera's
Bionic album debuted at #3 behind
Eclipse (#2) and
Glee (#1) soundtracks.
Bionic has sold 111,838 units which means the lowest 1st week sales of Christina Aguilera’s career. This probably happens because all of the negativity of the album and the single.

Huh?
I'm sure in Aguilera's world, this album is just another piece of work. I don't think she meant it to be negative toward others- if that's what you mean.
If you mean the negativity people have had toward the album and the single... then... um, of course that's going to effect sales. You think like this is some kind of surprise. When people don't like something... they don't usually go out of their way to buy it.
My theory? Aguilera was damn lucky Back to Basics was such a success. Since the "Dirrty" / "Beautiful" era, she's been completely out-of-touch with what's really going on in music. She tried to be a trend-setter and bring back old-fashioned music and because Britney was on mama-leave, but somehow despite Gwen's mega-star reign on pop at the time, she made a small place for "Candyman" / "Ain't No Other Man" to barely crack the scene. But I think you'll find people were talking more about Gwen's return the next year, Fergie's debut (which out-hipped, out-hyped, and out-bumped both Gwen and Christina's latest) and, if only to crack jokes - Paris Hilton. She was old-news then and she's even older news now. What's sadder is that, she couldn't make her new album without referencing in some way Lady Gaga taking all her fire. Vocally, conceptually, and within the gay fanbase. Not to mention, she's too late to be jumping on the Robot Train. Robyn beat her to it (
by 2 months).
It's almost sad when you consider Aguilera got some
TO-DIE-FOR collaborators for the album: Peaches, Le Tigre, Ladytron... I've been freaking out over them for years (though I only discovered Peaches last winter, I've been a Le Tigre fan since at least '02)! I wonder if she knew of them and how great they are or someone had to tell her they were hot.

That's what I meant. For me
Bionic was another great album from Christina Aguilera.

I think we have to take into consideration the state of the music industry; less people are buying albums now than they were even in 2006, probably.
I'm
still not finished listening to the album yet (Hanson's came out the same day, so I've had to pace myself

). Today when I'm driving I'll finish the album. I'm really liking it, though.
I Am is really a stand-out track for me. Can't wait to hear the stripped version. Really, that whole section of the album, right after
Sex for Breakfast, all those slower songs- definitely the highlight of the album for me. But I'm liking everything.
