Look at what's scheduled for DISNEY CHANNEL for MARCH 20th!
But they only advertised Handy Manny
Do my eyes deceive me? DO I really see SNOW WHITE for DISNEY CHANNEL?!?!?!?!?

Hmm... well, this is certainly out of character.

Maybe the movie is going back into the Vault sooner rather than later and Disney wants to boost sales?

When I heard that Snow White was airing today I was a bit excited, even though I already own it on Blu Ray, but now I'm contemplating whether or not this decision was a little sordid on Disney's part. Being a Disney purist I think it really ruins a classic as "untouchable" as this to air it on TV. This may be my mindset, because I remember reading somewhere that it was the only Disney classic Walt didn't want to be broadcasted on TV and going against somethone's wishes like that really is distasteful and disrespectful. Then again, ya, it could gain some new fans this way.
BTW, I missed it. Did the commercial spots ruin the pacing for any of you.

This wasn't the first airing, but Disney Classics are held in high regard in terms of tv. Otherwise, we'd be seeing Pinocchio 40 times in a year on Disney Channel.

Last night I was channel surfing, and I came upon Snow White on ABC Family. I'd come in just at the end of a commercial break, when the dwarves had gotten home and were trying to find out what was sleeping in their bedroom. It was entertaining to watch, but right when they uncovered the bed sheet over Snow, it cut to commercial break. That unnerved me a little bit. I didn't watch anymore.

Believe it or not I watched the entire movie on ABC Family and it was my first time watching it. I know I should have watched it somewhere in my life to even call myself a Disney fan. I was a little disappointed about the commercial breaks happen at the absolute worst moments. The movie also disappointed me a little bit. Everyone talks about how it is such a great movie but to me it is just good not super great but better than okay

7 commercial breaks
At least if Disney Channel really does air it, they'll leave it intact and will only take ONE or two breaks.
The break times did unnerve me. I knew that it would happen that way.

I didn't get a chance to watch it because I had to go to a wedding, but I will be seeing it on Wednesday night.
I was watching Disney Channel earlier today and they showed a commercial for Snow White airing on the 20th of March. It was a pretty long commercial and they are advertising it as a special event/special airing.
As for commercials, isn't that how tv stations make money?

Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney charged extra for commercial slots during Snow White.

Thanks Flanger-Hanger! I thought so, but just wanted to make sure. Of course there would be plenty of commercials to stretch the movie to a two hour time slot. I'm not surprised.
I also wouldn't be surprised if ABC Family paid millions of dollars to air Snow White or other future Disney classics. I wouldn't mind seeing them on television. I remember seeing Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King on ABC once. Cinderella later aired on Disney Channel in 2006 for one night only.

It already came on? I just saw the commerical today so they must be showing it again. I'm pretty peeved. I thought it was cool to see Pinocchio on TV last year, but I just can't stand ABC Family. At least DC has the dignity to try and keep the commerical spots to a minimum. Was it in true HD for those who have DirecTV? Pinocchio wasn't and I was like "Um, why did you release Blu-Ray then?"
But at least ABC Family shows Hercules and Aladdin in true HD. Hercules looks much better, though. Aladdin looks the same as my DVD.

By 'true HD' do you mean 1080p?

Technically, 720p, which is still native HD.

For anyone interested in Canada, I'm watching this on CBC right now.
