I love the original Muppet Movie, can't beat the Steve Martin scene, but in general it's too dated for me to be a top fave. Not that I don't LOVE much older movies than that, but maybe it's something about that time period itself that I'm not a fan of movies that capture it on that level, ha.

After watching The Muppet Movie recently, I couldn't believe how many celebrities that had cameos in it passed away - I think it was more than half of the actors that were in there starting at the beginning with Dom Deluise. Still a good movie. I haven't seen it in more than 20 years.

I'm just wondering is the new Muppets DVD Letters to Santa any good? And, how many DMR points is it worth?

"Letters to Santa" was pleasant enough. Not great. I attribute most of that to the short running time. I'd definitely check it out, because your opinion of it might be higher, but I enjoyed "A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie" more than "Letters".

I actually think I liked Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie better too. It was just funnier in general. Of course, that one had its glaring problems. Most notably, the infamous Scooter as a cage dancer scene and the Heaven scenes with Whoopi Goldberg as God. Not my pick for God, but I can deal with the casting, my problem was that it was a springtime kind of setting (Heaven), which kept taking me out of the snowy Christmas mood.

As for letters to Santa, I appreciated some aspects that clearly were an attempt to bring the classic Muppet feel, though some of it seemed more Sesame Street to me. However, the whole thing just wasn't that interesting and I can't stand that little girl from Cory in the House, who of course Disney HAD to use, as for some reason they are always trying to use the Muppets to push their stable of Disney Channel stars...

So that's why they used Whoopi in Golden Dreams at DCA.

Don't get it. It includes the later release of Muppets From Space which is fullscreen-only. The original release was a flipper disc with both widescreen and fullscreen.

Still, for $12 it can't be that bad and if/when they come out with a new verson of MFS you could just upgrade. If I see it for that price I'll be getting it. Of course I also tried finding the Centennial Collection DVD's Wal-Mart was supposed to have for around $5 each and couldn't find them so I probably won't find this either.
