What?!!! Josie and the Pussycats was awesome! Definitely one of my fave movies! Flintstones could have been great, but the casting of Betty and the kids ruined it for me. I still like it a lot though. And Jonny Quest and the Jetsons would be fantastic in live-action! I'll agree that Hong Kong Phooey and stuff like that wouldn't make sense.

Ok I got some surpising images from Yogi's new movie

http://www.themovieinsider.com/photos/15157/yogi-bear/

First image is the teaser poster

Image

Pretty simple and the font is creative

Here's Yogi and Boo Boo

I'd have to say they stuck pretty close to the cartoon design, hardly any changes to the characters' looks, at least that's what I see.

But I can't fricken see Justin Timberlake's voice comin out of Boo Boo, the same goes for Dan Akyord (spell?) too, I rather have Maurice LaMarche (Yogi's current voice) and a voice that sounds close to Don Messick

I imagine Justin TImberlake's voice will be modified as such with technology.....I mean Jesse McCartney was Theodore from the Chipmunks....and CHristina Applegate, Anna Faris and Amy Poehler were the Girl chipmunks....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_and_the_Chipmunks_II

and this is Warner Brothers making this Yogi Bear Movie....they didn't stray too off the beaten path with Scooby Doo

Image

or even the looks and sound of Scrappy Doo (though making him the Villain i'm stiill not sure of that part

well orignaly Ross B. Jr (Ross B. Sr's son) was gon'na voice the Chipmunks for the feature film but 20th Fox decided to go with a new cast, yet they allowed Ross Jr and his wife, Janice Karman (voice of Theo/Chipettes) to voice the chipmunks in the trailers.

Scooby's design was easy to handle cause he was suppose to act like a real dog with cartoon antics.

Guess we'll have to wait for the trailer to see how the film will play out.

what do you mean Warner Bros didn't stray too far from the beaten path with Scooby Doo?

Ha, it's funny, but though Yogi is probably CGI, I'm sure, he does look to me like a guy in a suit.

Is that true? 'Cause I friggin' knew it! I was wondering why they sounded legit in the trailers and then not so much in the actual movie lol.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

It was mainly for promotional reasons, also Ross Jr. was gon'na be Dave Seville, but studio execs. went for the younger Jason Lee, who was 38 at the time and Ross Jr was 58.

I read somewhere that Yogi Bear is gon'na be a semi melodrama with some pathos and comedy. In other words, it's suppose to be a semi extended verison of the classic show.

Plot: the film follows the adventures of Yogi Bear and his pal Boo-Boo in Jellystone Park, as they avoid Ranger Smith, who is trying to stop Yogi from stealing picnic baskets. Meanwhile, a nature documentary filmmaker (Anna Faris) is shooting a film where she encounters Yogi and Boo-Boo, the two then try to get her and Ranger Smith hooked up, where they become romantically involved.

Sounds pretty basic and kinda done in spirit of the show.

Well Compared to Fox's Chipmunks who at first picture we thought....yikes...blind me.....and then the Garfield Movie....
Garfield was done well...so was Odie to a degree.....but Nermal...Arlene...Nermal was turned into a doofus siamese cat in the movie and Alrene was a gray tabby

Nermal in Beanie Baby form from the movie

Classic Nermal:

Arlene from the movie in beanie baby form

Now don't me wrong.....I Liked the Garfield Films.....wait....isn't that guy who took Odie in the garfield movie....also the guy who is the villain in the Chipmunk Movies??

I see your point DisneyBoy, no it's a different guy who's playin Ranger Smith, Tom Cavanagh, an unknown actor. David Cross was the villain in Alvin and the chipmunks 1/2

Part of me will admit that I'm lookin forward to seein Yogi Bear on the big screen and the other half is saying: WHY??? why update the character(s)

I liked the Garfield movies quite well, but was annoyed that Arlene looked like an adult Nermal and Nermal just looked wrong. I mean, WHY? What was the point?! I also didn't like that they played down Jon's geeky side. WAAAY down. I could deal with the romance they cooked up with Liz, but that was too easy too. They should have made her unwilling at first. Funny thing is, supposedly Arlene was never on the '80's animated series because Jim Davis didn't want them doing her "wrong". Yet, he allowed so many changes to get a bigscreen, live-action film. Oh well, I still think they're good movies and they did well with Garfield and Odie. I can understand anger about live-action cartoon movies when they do things wrong like that, but I get very annoyed by the folks who simply hate them because they are live-action films based on cartoons. I think that's totally ridiculous.

As for the Chipmunks, I really enjoyed both their live-action films, and when it comes to the new trend of live-action/CGI films based on toons, I'd have to say I think theirs have been the best. I suspect a bigger part of casting Jason Lee as Dave is the fact that he is a more recognizable face/actor than Bagdassarian Jr., actually. The Scooby films have a lot of issues. I still enjoy them, they have their very good points, but they could have been better for sure. The only bit of casting I didn't love (though he wasn't TERRIBLE) was Freddy Prinze Jr. as Fred. The direct to video prequel was actually pretty good too. In some ways, it caught the Scooby spirit better than the bigscreen films I think. Though, Shaggy was too stoned acting, Daphne wasn't pretty enough, and they couldn't give Freddy blonde hair? C'mon?! He was a better Fred, but with live-action cartoons, things like getting the right hair color are important.

In response to Mason's last statement though, I think it's like this: Why not? The folks who aren't interested in an update can avoid the film. For those interested, there it is. I think it would be sad if Mickey was still all "Steamboat Willie" style just to please purists, and never got his various updates. And even the popular '80's show of Alvin and the Chipmunks was an update... Going live action and then animated again was hugely successful for Sabrina too. Personally, I love the 90's animated series, and boy, was that a different take on Sabrina. I mean, in terms of look and everything... Not that I usually want changes to be THAT huge, but it still can work quite well.

The image is probably a prop double. They use those when CG characters are involved.

accordin to the movie insider website

"Warner Bros. requested that The Movie Insider remove the early rendering of Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo Bear because the art is not final. The movie recently finished shooting in New Zealand and is in post-production. We will update photos when Warner Bros releases official versions"

Hopefuly we don't have to wait long for the offical pics

Though i am still not sure about Yogi Bear being made into a feature film, I am glad the early renderings of Yogi and Boo-Boo were taken down because, to me, they looked TERRIBLE.

This could bomb, because no one wants to see a film that ruins our nostalgia. Or it could be a success because kids would be liking it, just like how Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a success because it was made for kids.

Here's Yogi's 1st Teaser, so far the animation is spot on for the 60s Yogi, I believe Tom Cavanagh isn't right for Ranger Smith, seems to be toned down on the gruffness yet still retains the spirit of the character... As for Yogi and Boo Boo's voices, I swear that I heard Daws Butler (Orignal Voice Of Yogi) instead of Dan Aykroyd mimicing Daws Butler, as for Boo Boo you can easliy tell it's Justin Timberlake but I guess they wanted us to believe that its the orignal voice actors.

a) I'm actually impressed with the voice work, especially with Justin Timberlake- gladly, it doesn't sound like him.
b) It wasn't as cringe-worthy, for me, as most of the other cartoon-to-live-action movies.

I agree with you Amy, though I'm not sure if Justin's voice was natural or advanced thru technology.

Judging by the teaser, the film's tone seems to capture the show's spirit yet bringing somethin new to the audience. Course I'd be surpised if this film reached the same success as Fox's Alvin/Chipmunks movies.

Looks pretty terrible.
