That is the date that the 54-disc D23 Exclusive Walt Disney Treasures box set is released. Disneystore.com is currently taking pre-orders for the set, but customers won't receive them until December 8th.
Well I knew all that, I did preorder it, but I wasn't aware of the change. Would have been nice if Disney Store.com has sent out an email notifying the changes.

Now I hope it actually makes it to my front door before I leave for WDW on Dec. 17.

It should be on your door on December 8th. My experience with pre-ordering movies from disneystore.com is that they get the movie to you on the date it comes out. I had one exception to the rule where it came a day later, but I think that was more the fault of USPS.

I decided to cancel my Treasures set because I run into an emergency and needed the money. I want to cancel my D23 membership too since the only reason I ordered it in the first place was for the Treasures set. Does anyone know how I can do that? It hasn't shipped yet, so theoretically I should be able to cancel it.

D23 membership is non-refundable. Since your membership hasn't shipped, you can send Disney Store's customer service a letter asking if you can cancel, but be prepared for the answer to be "no." When you bought your membership, you checked a box agreeing to the terms and conditions.

I've tried to say this as many times as possible, but nobody listens. Only join D23 if you want the guaranteed perks of membership (magazine, certificate, card, and gift). Everything else, including merchandise and events, is not a guaranteed portion of your membership. Literally every member I know who joined for a specific purpose outside of what is guaranteed has felt let down in some way. I've been a D23 members since day 1 and I absolutely love it, but it's not for everybody.

Disney was my pretty much my religion growing up. It was always in the house, on the agenda for trips, etc. I got stock for Christmas, my family shares the Disney Vacation Club, and I jumped at the chance to do the College Program… I knew I wanted D23 membership but at the time, I didn’t have money like that to throw around. And then earlier last month, I came into a bit of money and I saw the Treasures set and I wanted it. I think I’m pretty much in the clear and as a bonus; I like the magazines and the articles. There’s photographs and artwork I’ve never seen.

Were you able to use the shipping code for $5?

Domestic only. Doesn't apply to D23 which has free domestic shipping anyway.

I think the international shipping is so high because membership includes 6 seperate shipments. Your first shipment includes your introductory issue, certificate, and welcome letter. Your second shipment is your membership card. Your third shipment is your membership gift. The fourth - sixth are the remaining three magazine issues.

That and for some reason they use DHL (europe focused) which you have to pay to get your stuff to Holland to get to distributed - It would be much more sensible to use Fedex who are US focused.
