Oh, duh. That's what I get for not reading messages.
Yes, dvd500, goofystitch is correct.
On a semi-related topic, what was the first on DVD? Was it "Tarzan"? Because Mulan came out with a bunch of DVDs in that "Limited Edition" collection.

The first animated films Disney released to DVD were Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas and The Nightmare Before Christmas, if you count those.
The first animated classic was Pinocchio. It kick-started the Limited Issue line and I believe that was December of 1998. About a year later, it was rereleased and it kick-started the Gold Collection line with Mulan, another one of the Limited Issues.

dvd500, I have merged all of your vhs question threads into this one. Please ask all your vhs questions in this thread instead of making new threads.

I'm sorry, I should specified- the question I was asking was more akin to the original one- what was the first to be released after its theatrical release? Did "Mulan" beat out "Tarzan" there?

While Mulan was released to DVD before Tarzan was, it was still almost a year after its theatrical release. I don't know if you would count that or not. Tarzan was the first to get a DVD release on the same day as its VHS release, whereas Mulan was released to VHS before DVD.

Yeah, that's what I thought (Mulan's DVD release after VHS)... thanks.

Since "The Little Mermaid" was the first Disney theatrical animated feature film to be released on VHS right after it was released in movie theaters, what was the first Disney theatrical live action feature film to be released on VHS right after it was released in movie theaters?

Was "The Black Hole" also the first Disney theatrical feature film to be released on VHS, right after it was released in movie theaters?

Uh, you're just asking the same question twice. Check the post above yours.

But the question above mine was asking for the first Disney theaterical LIVE ACTION feature film to be released on VHS, right after it was released in movie theaters. The question I'm asking now, is The Black Hole the first Disney theatrical feature film (live action or animated) to be released on VHS, right after it was released in movie theaters.

I think Bambi was the last Platinum vhs ever made. The next Platinum movie was Cinderella and I think that only came out on dvd. I don't remember seeing the Platinum vhs of Bambi in any of the stores, but I ordered it online.

Yes. The Black Hole was released to theaters December 21 1979. In 1980 when Disney put out their first batch of VHS films, The Black Hole was one of them, as was Mary Poppins, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Pete's Dragon and a few others.

Also, what was the first Disney VHS to have a "Feature Presentation" bumper, and what year was it released?
