I think Meerkats are a rodent, so I'd add Timon to that one if I were you.

- Mickey Mouse (of course!) and Minni
- Timmy
- Thumper
- Jack and Gus
- The white rabbit
- Bernard & Bianca
- Chip & Dale
- Most of the cast from The Great Mouse Detective
- Remy (Ratatouille)
- the chipmunk from Enchanted
- that creature from Bolt (Haven't seen the movie yet)
I think the mice should be its own section. You already mentioned Mickey and Minnie, Timothy Mouse, Jaq and Gus-Gus, Bernard and Bianca, much of "The Great Mouse Detective" cast and Remy, but you forgot:
--Abner and Monty (from "The Country Cousin")
--Dormouse
--Amos Mouse
--Monterey Jack
--Gadget
--Jake (from "The Rescuers Down Under")

I also think there should be one whole one on rabbits. You mentioned Thumper and the White Rabbit, but we also need to include:
--Max Hare
--Brer Rabbit
--March Hare
--Rabbit
--The rabbit family (from "Robin Hood")
--Roger Rabbit
--Donald Duck dressed up like a rabbit?

They should also do one on Disney bears (they've done plenty of those, too):
--Brer Bear
--Most of the bears from the "Bongo" scene of "Fun and Fancy Free"
--Humphrey
--Winnie the Pooh
--Baloo
--That fishing bear from "Bedknobs and Broomsticks"
--The Country Bears
--Little John
--The Gummi Bears
--Much of the bear cast from "Brother Bear"
--Donald Duck dressed up like a bear? (it would be like his appearance in that cartoon where he tries to kill a bear cub for its fur)

And just for good measure, how about foxes (they've done a few of those, too):
--J. Worthington Foulfellow
--Foxy Loxy (both versions)
--Brer Fox
--That fox from "Mary Poppins"
--Robin Hood
--Tod

Don't forget about the other females! Vixey and Maid Marian should be on that list, too! :)

Burbank, California

DisneyToon Studios is proud to announce its latest home premiere video franchise: Disney's Unnamed Villagers!

Perhaps some of Disney's most neglected characters, they have entertained us with such delightful ditties as "Who's that comin' down the street? Are they shovels or are they feet?" from The Adventures and Ichabod Toad or "Look there she goes that girl is strange, no question. Dazed and distracted, can't you tell?" from Beauty and the Beast.

For the first time ever, the unnamed villagers will take center stage in a new merchandising push headed by Disney Consumer Products.

Andy Mooney, Chairman of Disney Consumer Products, announced the product line at a special media conference this morning.

"DCP has had a boost of wonderful franchises in recent years. The Disney Princess line is as strong as ever and Winnie the Pooh's franchise will be bolstered with a new theatrical film in 2011. Newer franchises - Cars and Fairies - have a strong following with young boys and girls. However, we realized we didn't have a franchise for adult fans, one that spans back to Disney's oldest films. That's when we came up with the idea for Disney's Unnamed Villagers. From Disney's earliest animated classics through next year's Rapunzel these characters have sung and danced, brining life to quaint village towns. We believe they are a perfect fit with our dynamic line-up of franchises and will be a hit with classic Disney fans."

John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of DisneyToon Studios, also spoke to the press.

"I really cannot express in words how much I love these characters. Walt Disney once said 'I try to build a full personality for each of our cartoon characters - to make them personalities.' The key word there was each. Even these background villagers played important roles in the film. They are truly magical. Ever since I was just a skipper on the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland, I have been enamored with these seemingly transparent characters. I remember watching The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and just seeing those villagers baking pies or walking down the street truly inspired my love for animation. Back in the 80's, I tried to convince Disney Animation to make a movie specifically based on these characters. They fired me minutes after making the pitch. This shows how full-circle I've come, finally back at Disney and making this movie. Their humor and songs have played a huge role in so many Disney Animated Classics, so I'm proud to announce that DisneyToon Studios and Disney Consumer Products will be working in conjunction on this new franchise."

The franchise will spread across books, a home premiere video line, and toys.

The first in the video line will introduce such soon-to-be-beloved characters as:

Woman in second story window
Man selling items on street
Children playing games in the road
Ne'er-do-well face down in the gutter

Their songs will include such memorable melodies as:

"Life as an Unnamed Villager in this Unnamed Village Town"

and

"How Is It I Can Sing and Dance So Well When I'm Just a Simpleton?"

These hard-working, good-natured people will soon stand among Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, Cinderella, and many other of Disney's most-loved characters.

The first in the line of films will debut this September. The books will be available by mid-November. Disney hopes to have the toys in stores before Christmas.

A while back I created a franchise called "Disney's Magical Family", which consisted of the magical characters that helped the Disney characters achieve their dreams.

The lineup included:
- The Blue Fairy from Pinnocchio
- The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella
- Tinker Bell
- Flora, Fauna and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty
- Merlin from The Sword in the Stone
- Genie from Aladdin
- Mama Odie from Princess and the Frog (I just added this one)

What exactly does it mean to Franchise something, at least so far as Disney films (or animated films) are concerned?

To make more movies based on it? Or, to feature something prevalent (things, places, people) in advertising??

xxhplinkxx wrote:Disney Gays

Kuzco
Gaston
Grimsby (That old queen :p)
Governor Ratcliffe
Scar
Jafar
Merlin
I think Prince John and Honest John can easily be added to that list.

Disney Mrs. Robinsons

Eleanor
Fairy Mary
Franny Robinson*
Lady Kluck
Marina Del Rey
Prudence

Help me out here. Must be animated, middle-aged, neutral and/or arguably unaligned, and somewhere along the lines of former model material. I thought about sticking Merryweather up there, but my brain can't fully wrap itself around that.

* Not really, but literally, and her husband is apparently away often just like in the song...
