Yes, which film Disney liked will forever remain a mystery as he seems so enthusiastic about ALL of them, but behind the scenes he was a whole different man. Disney would lead you to believe that Walt LOVED Fantasia, but I heard it became his most hated film after it completely bombed.

I wouldn't be surprised if he told that X movie was his favorite to his actors and crew men simply because he wanted them to work on the film knowing that it had Walt's approval.
Believe it or not but I know people that their most favorite film is Snow White,I think there's a few people here that their favorite movie is Snow White,I like Snow White but I just love movies like The Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty more.
I think that many people are cruel to Snow White.

I was being sarcastic regarding Snow White. I know its a well beloved and classic film, something I recently stated on the Platinum Edition thread. I was merely referencing the fact that not a lot of people at UD like the movie, Escapay being the biggest basher.

Walt Disney's favourite villain was The Rescuers' own Madame Medusa*, thus proving Walt could predict the future.

Read the interview. Pretty good. She talks alot though.

And the Enchanted Tales comment was LULZ worthy.

But this also confirmed that John Lessinter is a hypocrite.

Why? Did he change what he said his favorite Disney movie was, too?

I think he was talking about how Lasseter would never allow a sequel to Sleeping Beauty to happen, yet allow a crappy segment based on the movie to be made.

That or he's ragging on the guy because Lasseter=Satan :) .

Enchanted Tales is great and there's nothing bad about it (Maybe exept Aurora's voice).
It's great, there's nothing awful about it and Disney can do really could done it awful.

That and fact that he makes sequels in his own pixar studio(Cars 2, and toy story trilogy) yet hates anything else that is made into a sequel.

There's a difference. He's opposed to making sequel to DISNEY HELMED films.

Disney never believed in the idea of making sequels. He thought that you should create something new rather than to rely on old ideas. This is what modern Disney was doing; creating sequels for classic Disney films. Worst of all, for a good deal of the sequel era they were cheaply made, obviously to generate quick profit.

You might say "But Disney made sequels to its modern films, too!". I've always believed that modern films are more prone to sequels than many of the classics. Not to mention that people oppose to the idea of sequels to classic films. So, people can be content with "Pirates 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and infinity" but get annoyed hen they announce "Gone with the wind part 2". And don't get me started on remakes...

So the modern Disney films are easier to spin off because they were created under different ideals, same with the Pixar films. The classic films, however, are sacred to many.

Besides, Pixar has ONLY made three sequels in its lifetime (Toy Story 2 and 3, Cars 2), and the only reason Toy Story 3 is being made is because DISNEY wanted to make one without them, and I'm sure DISNEY also rushed Cars 2 into production because of its merchandising popularity. So its exactly unfair to say that they are hypocrites.

I take it you never read Alexandra Ripley's 1991 novel Scarlett. :P The miniseries strayed from it a bit, but is still a good watch.

I had waited until I wouldn't be distracted to read the interview, and I just read it; Renata, it was a joy to read (no pun intended!)! Mary Costa seems like such a sweet lady, and her answers were honest and unexpected, which was great. I, too, love hearing (or reading) people's thoughts on working with Walt. I'm glad that she stood up for her character, as far as the passive heroine subject goes. I mean, that was expected, because I'm sure that she has grown found of Aurora, but I like her argument.

A great read! :)

Evidently before my time here, but would this be the same individual who states Ursula to be a direct rip-off of Medusa on wikipedia?

I thought I commented here, but I guess I didn't.

I absolutly loved the interview, Reneta! Mary Costa is such a fantastic person who truly loves Disney, it seems. I'm ecstatic she took the time to be interviewed, and really loved reading her thoughts and comments on Walt Disney. :) :thumb: :pink:

I didn't know UD did interviews! I found the index page, and it seems I have a lot of reading to do! I can't wait! :P

Anyway, I just read the first page of her interview and from her answers, I can almost tell that she's a really sweet woman. She seems very humble, and very grateful with what SB has done with her life, and especially towards Walt Disney.

Can't wait to read the rest!
