Will there be a National Treasure 3 and if not why? If so why are they taking so long to make it....
I want to know what was on page 47
Surely poor reviews never stopped Disney from making sequels . . . how else do you explain Mighty Ducks 2 and 3 and those endless "Buddies" films?TheValentineBros wrote:I have to say, the National Treasure movies are so dumb, but they are mindlessly enjoyable and lovable. So yeah, the poor reviews caused the reason why Disney didn't want to do the third.
Perhaps it will happen now that I read that. Hopefully this still means Disney is going ahead with it.Linden wrote:I thought it was confirmed that National Treasure 3 is happening? A Yahoo! article that came out in November still listed it. http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-tal ... 23292.html

The DisInsider: A reboot for Disney+ is possible.
Source: https://www.thewaltdisneycompany.com/th ... reholders/Q: At the 2016 shareholder meeting, I asked you about the possibility of a third movie in the National Treasure franchise. Three years later, I'm still hoping. Should I give up hope?
Bob Iger: I know that Jerry Bruckheimer who produced National Treasure 1 & 2 would like to make a third movie and I know that discussions about that film have gone on probably since 2016 with our studio but I know that they have not greenlit such a film. They've talked about a number of different possibilities both on the creative side and from a timing perspective and I just don't have anything to announce. Though I did speak with Mr. Bruckheimer not long ago about it and I know his passion for that franchise remains pretty strong. We love those first two films too but we're not quite there yet.

During a recent interview with the mega-producer for his new Starz series Hightown, our own Steve Weintraub got the details on the series, which will feature a new, younger cast.
“We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active….The one for Disney+ is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast. The one for theatrical would be the same cast.”
As for director Jon Turtletaub‘s National Treasure 3, which attached Bad Boys for Life writer Chris Bremner back in January, that film is still in the scripting process. According to Bruckheimer, the Disney+ series is actually further along in development.
“The film version is being written right now. The television version is in process. We have a pilot script done and an outline of the future episodes.”
