Blu-ray profile 3.0 was designated a a hi-def audio format; nothing's really been done with it commercially and it has nothing to do with playback of films on BD.ZOOMBOOM0688 wrote:QUESTION: Is the 2.0 the final version since it is connected to the internet and can update itself or will there be a 3.0?
Profile 2.0, or BD-Live is the "final" BD profile for films on Blu-ray...which doesn't mean your player won't require future firmware updates, but since BD-Live requires internet connectivity, that process should be about as painless as it can get.
I put "final" in quotes because of the motion picture industry's interest in bringing the 3-D experience (sans the red and blue glasses) to home media---story <a href="http://www.eetimes.com/news/latest/show ... 5">here</a>. From the article:
