Interesting. Is this the first time El Capitan has hosted a non-Disney film?

4-D

Uh oh... The Hollywood executives better not try and milk this dry like they did with 3D!

My memory is a bit foggy as this was years ago when I was a kid and lived in California, but I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas there. They even had the heads of Jack in a room we toured after the movie.

If I'm not mistaken, we also saw Aladdin there. There was a floor show for this one I think. Like some little performance before the movie. I remember sitting in a balcony.

Whenever I'd see a movie or news clip showcasing The Chinese Mann theater on TV I'd ask myself what is so great about that one? So I asked my sister who still lives in CA and she said there's really nothing great about it other than the location by the walk of stars. Well, the El Capitain is right across the street with the walk of stars, too! She said that the sound was really loud at the CMT (maybe too loud). So that confirmed it for me. El Capitan, one of the best theaters I've ever been to and I never thought it got enough attention. I don't know anything about fountains, sorry.

A bit off topic, but...
I live in Mississippi now and our favorite theater is Cinemark. It's a really nice theater with stadium seating. The Grand theaters with stadium seating are nice, but the Cinemark is nicest. I guess it's the architecture or something. My husband likes a certain coffee drink they carry, too. I don't know if they all look quite like this, but it is a chain.

We used to have a Silver Screen theater in Biloxi, years ago, and it had swivel chairs and tables. I went there once, for the Rocky Horror Picture show. They served alcohol, too which I suppose was a crowd pleaser for some. It wasn't anything great, but the seating was unique and cool.

I'm willing to guess there are a lot of underrated/overlooked theaters out there. I hope to one day get my family out to CA to visit and go to the El Capitan. Of course, maybe when I get there I'll say, "these balcony seats are too far from the screen." lol

I'll ask this here since no one has answered in the Rapunzel thread.... Does anyone know yet with the red carpet premiere of "Tangled" will be held at the El Capitan?
