Yes but still you use capitalizing on every word

And Luke, please tell me if I should not use the evil emoticons in my postings any more?
Maybe that was what you mentioned in that we use the emoticons too much?
Please let me know!
I am not perfect when it comes to grammar (although my friends tell me
I'm terribly annoying when I correct them!), but the capitalization is a little annoying...
As far as i am concerned I am sick of being picked @. I could pick @ you guys also for a lot of things that you do but I don't. I think that you are a little to critical. Everbody makes mistakes even Chernabog and even Prince Adam. But people don't point them out all the time. I think that it would be good if we had more respect and not pick out everbodys mistakes!

True, I certainly do mistakes, especially in the English grammar - due to that I´m Swedish perhaps! 8)

I mentioned your post just because you totally agreed with Luke and still used the capitalizing in the same post!

No harm feelings - but I think you understand why I wrote it!

Sometimes it's good that someone points to you what your mistakes are ;) I have said that you shouldn't use a Capital letter on every word on MSN and you said it was a habbit and you'd change it... well you did. Without us saying it you wouldn't have done it and get on everyone's nerves ;)

Yes I Agree With You Completely Luke. I Am Shocked with Some Of The Bad English And Some Of The Rotten Spelling That Some Users Use.
We need to proof read our posts before submitting it.

Luke cares about our English writing. :D

Well, as far as the English on this site goes, there are so many folks from Europe and South America here...and they do try so hard to type in English, those misspellings and word issues don't grate on me as much.

However, I'm not the best typest in the world and am constantly making small mistakes. I'd LOVE to have a built-in spell check feature. So Luke, if we have to switch board hosts again, that feature is on my wish list!

I think using an "@" symbol instead of writing "at" isn't very good spelling etiquette, either. :P

Yeah, that'd be a nice feature. I tend to cut and paste my longer posts into Word and check the spelling that way. It just saves time.

I have to admit I do find poor spelling/grammar frustrating to read, but I do appreciate we have sooooo many people here from all walks of life that I let it slide from time to time :P (Gee, how generous of you Loomis :) )

Still, we can't blame Luke for wanting to improve the overall quality of the boards.

Coz remember kids - Spelling is SEXY!

(Oh, and MickeyMousePal - love that acronym for LUKE - spot on).

Thank you Jens and Chernabog. I guess I was a little to over rational about the matter. I understand what you mean now.

Luke wrote:Greetings,

I'm really glad to see active posting on the forum again, but there's been a number of recent trends that I've found troubling.

Discussions in this forum take place in the English language, and I understand that this is not the first and strongest language of some. These people who are not as familiar with English, but make genuine efforts to write in it are greatly appreciated.

What isn't greatly appreciated is people butchering the language. Surely, the Internet does not have the reputation of being a haven for strong writing, grammar and spelling skills. It's understandable, to some degree.

But it's only understandable to a degree. Being young is not a valid excuse for being a detriment to the forum, and is not a valid excuse in itself for being deficient in English.

Please make an effort to spell things correctly. "Forum" not "form", etc.

Please make an effort to not overly abbreviate things, like using "2" instead of "to."

Please make an effort to use proper capitalization and punctuation. (The first letter of sentences and proper nouns are capitalized, not the first letter of every word.)

Use smilies and exclamation marks sparingly. They're a lot more effective if there's not patterns of a half-dozen in a row in every one of your posts.

Finally, this isn't a spelling/grammar issue, but please do make sure to search around the site and forum before posting something that may have been discussed already. There are hundreds of informative pages on the website, and nearly 30,000 posts on the forum.

Discussions are most welcome, but preferably educated discussions that make the forum a pleasant and worthwhile place for Disney and DVD fans to feel comfortable discussing relevant and interesting topics.

Thanks for your understanding and for making an effort to work on keeping these good posting habits!
I always try to use the best grammar and spelling I can, sometimes I might mess up and spell suff wrong ("lye" ;) ) . And I agree that it is annoying when people use numbers instead of letters when writting, it kind of shows a lazy attitude (every1...). So I'll do my best to write in the propper way.

:)
