I realized this after a conversation between PrincePhillipFan and I.
Pretty much, he has this very beautiful girl(Ariel) sitting right in front of him. Whose all into him and desperately seeking his attention. But no, she's not for him because she doesn't have the right features of the beautiful voice, and thinks she isn't the one who saved him. It basically says that "your nice, but your not the right girl, because you can't speak, and I must be with that one girl who saved me and sings great."
Talk about high standards! Be pretty and sing well? GEEZE!
BUT, finally after Grimsby tells him, that theres something better then a dream girl, only then he decides to finally go off to really get to know Ariel. Unfortunatley, thats when Ursula/Vanessa comes singing and casts a spell on him.
