Trust me, you don't. I had to sit through the first one twice when it premiered (once just out of my morbid curiosity and again when Kram and Jane wanted to watch it), then about five more times when I did the Remix DVD review.

The second is slightly more tolerable (if only because it's so goddamn campy and is like a demented and kiddiewashed version of Dirty Dancing), but I still wouldn't wish it on anyone.

(And I'm surprised that there was a brief moment in time when I actually considered getting the sequel on DVD. Glad I let that pass.)

It did happen in the movie...well the sequel at least. It's called "I Don't Dance". :P

Considering that Ryan will never be "outed" in the films (which are to be considered "canon"), I don't consider this "official".

And to those who keep saying that they wish it were Zac- the thread title says "character". ;)

Are you just rolling your eyes at Ryan in "I Don't Dance", or at the whole scene? Because that's my favorite scene in the whole film. MMM...Corbin in a baseball outfit... :P

Yeah...

I love the HSM films, and I think that every Disney fan should give each one a chance! Try it, you'll like it!!! :)

Escapay probably means "Dance" in the Steven Moffat allogoritical sense.

(See Point 5 of "continuity"

Hm. Going back to the original post, I'm not sure this is "news" to anyone though. Did anyone think he wasn't?

The whole unintentionally-but-hilariously homoerotic scene. Ryan's probably my favorite character in the whole HSM universe so I wouldn't roll my eyes at him. Well, favorite as in "most tolerable".

You know me all too well, netty. :P Not many UDers know about the Doctor Who double entendre of "dance" and I felt it was a nice little wink towards the few that did. And it's rather convenient that one of the songs is called "I Don't Dance", and is sung by a character who does not have a love interest in either movie. Give the guy some sugar.

This may confirm what we've been talking about, at least when it comes to whether or not Disney would give Ryan some kind of love interest in HSM3:

The new line of HSM3 prom dolls:

Is Ryan's date supposed to be Martha?!? Or who is she?!?!

Why does Ryan look like Alex out of a Clockwork Orange? :? It's actually quite creepy. I think that doll could give me nightmares!

Anyhow, she's just his beard, whoever she is :)

I'm not sure who that it. I'm sure she's just a friend of his, whoever she is.

Agreed. That or Tommy Steele in Half a Sixpence for me.

I've seen two high school renditions of HSM and in both the boy playing Ryan was as gay as they come, so everybody knows/assumes he's gay!!

I wonder how They'll portray Ryan in the stage version of HSM 2? By that I mean will they continue to portray him as gay or will they change it so that the stage version will be more like the movies. Or how will people react to his new "girlfriend". Maybe there just friends.

Well, it may just be my keen eye for detail, but do pay attention to how Ryan and his "girl" are standing in the least romantic way out of all the pairs. They are not standing facing each other or one behind the other, just side-to-side.

http://disneyteen-media.blogspot.com/ says that the doll is Kelsi. So now we know. She must be wearing contact lenses to the prom.

Kelsi could just be his prom date, not necessarily his girlfriend. Every gay guy I knew in high school went to prom with a girl just to avoid being harassed. It was usually a friend. I'm not ruling out that Disney wouldn't make it a relationship of sorts, but it could be unrelated to the character's sexuality.
