Looks like this is why the hold up. By the way, I don't think this film is dead, just that, being held up till it can be tweaked.

After budget cuts, the film is back on track and slated for release on May 31, 2013.

The film was originally budgeted at $250 million, has been cut down to $215 million. The creatives involved will reduce their fees: no $20 million for Johnny Depp, no $10 million apiece for producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, as is their norm on tentpoles. A source also says the filmmakers will sacrifice their back-end participation if the film comes in over budget, a significant incentive to run a tight ship.

I expect nothing less odd looking from Johnny Depp. He looks like a wet shamaness. The crow is a lovely touch.

I kind of feel like Tonto looks like Jack Sparrow as an Indian. Forget that Mr. Depp plays both, the look of the characters I feel is very similar. I love the Lone Ranger and I know Jonny Depp is a big name, especially with Disney these days, but I can't help wondering if this was a bad idea casting him in this role as Tonto?

I think that Disney should just forget about this tragedy of a film. If they can't do any better than Armie Hammer or Johnny Depp, looking like drunk amateurs trying to cash in on a legend, then they should just put this film on the shelf.

The Lone Ranger was one of the better television series in the 50s, and Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels were the best at playing the Lone surviving Texas Ranger and his Indian companion Tonto. When a contract dispute came up during the series and Moore was replaced by John Hart for a few episodes, the show's ratings went downhill fast and the network suits got Clayton Moore back in the saddle.

A movie called "The Legend of The Lone Ranger" was made in the 70s and failed miserably. The producers of this movie also got a restraining order keeping Moore from making any personal appearances as the masked man. I believe that is why the movie failed so badly.

There were two 'original' Lone Ranger movies made, and both had very mediocre showings at the box office. It proved to everyone involved that you don't mess with success of a television series, who's iconic lead character is known by his white hat and his black mask and beautiful white stallion named Silver.

I hope that Disney rethinks this project and just forgets about it. To see Tonton, as Johnny Depp is trying to portray him, would be blasphemous in my eyes. Tonto was NOT a gaudy dressed-up Indian, but a faithful companion of The Lone Ranger who, by the way, never wore a suit like the picture of Armie Hammer shows.

Disney, we know Johnny Depp is a chick magnet, is one of the most recognized actors in the world and has helped make Pirates successful and we have no problem with him being in another one of your films. JUST STOP MAKING IT LOOK LIKE HE'S THE LEAD!!!!!!!
