Chris Sander's sold his soul.
The same Chris Sanders who had was dumped by Disney and had his American Dog madeover as soon as he was gone?
What makes you think Sanders has any say in the matter?
(And talking of Bolt, where's the publicity for it? Wall-E is getting more exposure at the moment, and thats months away from Bolt's opening).
Up till recently Chris was made creative executive with disney, the pre-lasseter era that is!
It is that same J.Lasseter that eventually kicked out one of the greatest storytellers wit disney!
And NO he didn't leave voluntarilly!
He was responsible for that classic scenes such as
-mufasa's ghost in lion king
-Mulan matchmaker sequence
-lilo & stich

Believe it or not, Stitch is insanely popular in Japan. Like almost as popular as Hello Kitty, Doremon, etc Go to a Disney Store in Japan and you'll see tons and tons of Stitch merchandise.
Reason for the change of Lilio to Hanako is probably due to localization.
This is probably reason why this series going be Japan only.
REINIER wrote:I'm afraid quality will go downhill even further, once animated in Japan.
The animation studio who doing it is MADHOUSE. They are NOT a crappy animation studio house. These are same people who done Ninja Scroll. They are fucking good.
But seriously why the hell you guys getting piss off over this? You guys are acting like a bunch of whiny kids
I am in no way Whining ,as you so eloquantually put it!
I am merely expressing my opinion, thank you!
If you were to look carefully through the Leroy & Stitch endtitles you will notice that it is that same Madhouse studio who totally f***d op that movie
However we do agree on something
Ninja Scroll rules!

I think we will not have to worry about Hana-chan. Check out the article linked to through the CartoonBrew article, courtesy of the Associated Press:
With Madhouse, Disney will produce a 30-minute TV program "Stitch!," an offspring of the Lilo & Stitch series, to be aired in Japan, the official said, adding that the company has not decided when the show will go on air.
A Japanese girl named Hanako will play Stitch's sidekick in the new show and the imaginary story will take place in a southern Japanese island, instead of in Hawaii as in the original, the company said in a statement.
Imaginary, folks. IMAGINARY! This stuff won't be real, so I won't worry. Some may still wanna go "Meega na la kweesta" on Disney and Madhouse on this one.

Indeed, think of this as not a sequel of any sorts, but a non-canon "gaiden" (side story) specifically for the Japanese market.

I was addressing that in general to everyone. Not just you.

I never saw Leroy & Stitch so I can't make judgement on that. However, even if they screw that up, the number of stuff they have done that are spectacular is significantly greater than stuff that failed.
Go check out the Batman Gotham Knights clips that going to come out soon. Truly fantastic stuff they pulled off.

Indeed.

Exactly, so why are people even complaining anyway?
Even if this was a sequel or whatever it maybe, I still see no reason why people should complain over this.

There's a new series coming up which was produced in Japan. Here is the
promo for the series (with English subtitles). What do you think?

I'm not sure: it looks both interesting and stupid at the same time.
Are you sure it's not
some sort of a sequel to the original films/series? After all, Jumba and Pleakley are there. Maybe it's set after "Leroy & Stitch"? I don't know, it just seems pointless to create a new show with no connection to the original, they might have as well created a completely new character instead of Stitch

Oh, then I'm fine with it. I hate when reimaginnings/reboots use the same designs as the previous versions

That baby bird is hideous and completely out of place with its design. Looks like it was ripped from the old Nichelodeon show Ahhhh! Real Monsters. What happened to making animal designs respectable like in the first movie? Heck, even the sequel, the Lilo & Stitch TV series, and the two spinoff movies carried on giving animals respectable designs like the first movie did.
Anyway, I do want to watch this show despite wanting to retch at the sight of the baby bird.

Looks like Stitch ditched Lilo. Anyways, I think this show does not look that good, even though it's not airing in America. I like the first movie, but the sequels and the show were not that good.

Its looks interesting and seems a bit more original than other ideas. An anime crossover while keeping the Disney character in their original Disney form. If it comes to the USA, I'll watch it just to see what its really like.

Actually Yuna looks like an oddly drawn Human character from a Pokemon Movie....or a human from Spirited Away...
I also would like to view this and would be interested in a USA Version....
But my main problem is.....HOW DO THEY GET BOXSETS OF THE ORIGINAL SERIES OF LILO & Stitch and we are practically begging Disney To release it on DVD.....GRRR... I knew Japan got good (excuse me, better versions of) video games but I had no clue they were getting BOX SETS of Disney shows let alone a DCOM......BOX SET BEING MADE BY DISNEY....I WANT A DISNEY DEFENDER!!! Not A Hannah Montana High School Musical promoter

Yuna stands out with her unique design but she isn't an eyesore to look at. I like her design. ^_^ Same as you, I thought she looked like a human from Pokemon when I saw her warped hairstyle plus she's around Pokemon-ish creatures.

i just really really really REALLY hate the idea that Stitch leaves Lilo. It defeats everything that the original film, sequels, series, and film series said about ohana. It's rediculous in my opinion. It would've been in better taste to use a different experiment or something of the sort.

It's horrible.
singergay04-They said that this series takes place in an imaginary universe and in this universe Lilo isn't existent but this hideous wannabe girl insted,so he didn't left her, they twisted in their own universe with their powers of darkness like Lady Tramine in Cinderella III.

Earlier in this thread however they are confirming that this does indeed take place right after Leroy & Stitch... unless that hasn't really been confirmed yet, i'm confused.
And btw, I'm pretty sure that my sn written that way belongs in another thread in the off-topic section

No,it's not, they said that they took characters from the TV series and sequel but it had nothing to do with the real Lilo And Stitch,it's in an imaginary universe.
