I'm glad the rumours of an "animation-less" wave proved to be unfounded.

Dr. Syn, what can I say...I'M ULTRA FREAKIN' EXCITED!!!!!!!!
Of course I'm saving pink elephants in my post until I actually get my hands on a copy. Just in case Disney does something like they did in August 2004. Though the odds are in my favor this time around.
As for including the theatrical version, it would make sense if Disney put it in 16x9 widescreen. The opening credits were different in the theatrical version, and that was all that was different. But I agree something better could have been put on like the 4 Zorro episodes of the Disneyland TV series or The Prince and the Pauper episodes with Guy Williams but I'm trying not to complain.

For once, I'm contributing to a Treasures thread. It's kind of cool in here.
Anyway, I'm very excited for Destino. I think I'm going to love merely looking at it. It's just wonderful that Dali actually wanted to work with Disney. This was in the 1940s. Does anyone think Dali didn't like that Disney started "pleasing the audience" more in the 50s? Well, I heard that this project fell through just because it got so hard and complicated, right?

Dr Syn....Great!!!
Hopefully, they'll be able to get an interview with Patrick McGoohan as a special feature.
I'd like to hear him talk about his experience on this and other Disney work like "The Three Lives of Thomasina".

I'm totally stoked about all of these, but particularly Dr. Syn and Destino.
I'm actually VERY happy that they are including the theatrical feature as well as all of the television episodes together. There might even be a quick bonus about why they released the show theatrically after it already aired on television....I mean who made the decision and what was cut out of the show. Overall we will have a complete Dr. Syn set.....what more could a Disney fan ask for? I'm sooooo looking forward to this set.

Any word yet on how many they will release of each?

There was a 2- or 3-part comic book series of Dr. Syn published many years ago, AND there were new episodic Scarecrow comic stories published in "Disney Adventures" magazine from 2006-07.
Maybe all or some of these comics could be part of the DSATS volume.

then it could be like 2007's treasures which had additional stuff (ticket booklet, button) with the litho inside the tin.

I think that susie the little blue coupe is available on one of the cartoon-type dvds but not the treasures dvd's. I think there will still be a few stragglers, but this sounds to me like the END OF THE LINE, jmho.
That would be both Susie AND Casey Bats Again missing. I still wonder what got into Disney or Leonard Maltin when these two were not included on the Rarities set. Figaro and Cleo, on the other hand, can be found on Pluto vol 2.

Gotta say that's about as good as we were hoping for, and it looks like it will be delivered. Now all that's left is to announce the last set of Rescue Rangers and I'll be very happy in 2008...!

Actually, what I meant and should have said was that maybe that comic content could be included as a gallery in the 'Dr. Syn' DVD set.

Why? Do we really need them both?
I think I would have preferred it combined with another 3-parter, kind of like how three episodes of both Elfego Baca and Swamp Fox shared a set, one disc dedicated to each.
I am a little concerned about the Destino set as well. I hope there is a lot of footage from different abandoned projects and that the set won't feel just like only one cartoon with enourmos amounts of extra material. Not that I mind extra material, there never seems to be enough of it, but still, it is only one short cartoon...
But I am extremely happy to know that the Donald cartoons are going to be completed.

Im so excited that the Disney Treasures are going to continue! I have almost all of them! I have to admit tho that im a little disappointed by this waves offerings. Donald is going to be a great addition..... but DESTINO seems too modern to be a "Disney Treasure" and I have never really heard much of anything about DR. SYN. I hope Dr. Syn will be great and something I will turn out to enjoy. If they wanted to release something that was originally presented on TV in the states and released theatrically in England, I really wish they would have offered THE HORSEMASTERS or ESCAPADE IN FLORENCE instead. I agree with a previous poster that they should have picked up and continued the Swamp Fox and El Fego Baca series. I hate when they start a series and dont finish it. MAYBE on the next wave eh?
