Voyage is my 2nd favorite (but keep in mind I've only read LW&W, Voyage and Magicians Nephew) of the books. LW&W being my top favorite.

I can't wait to see this one of Prince Caspian. I think Caspian will beat that silly movie, what's it called.....Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?

I haven't heard anything (but then again, I haven't been searching) but I hope its better than Prince Caspian was. And more true to the book, too.

Its still scheduled for 2010 I think. I hope they don't reschedule it for later than that.

I was just watching Disc 2 of Prince Caspian. Some of the special effects crew does mention that they are doing work on Dawn Treader, and two pieces of concept art popped-up on-screen. I took screensots of both. Here they are:

I haven't seen these anywhere online so I thought I'd post them.

I really hope this one is better than Prince Caspian. PC bored me to tears, and overall was just way inferior to LW, & W.

I have no doubt Voyage of the Dawn Treader is going to better than Prince Caspian, which for me is saying something since I love PC insanely more than most people it seems. VotDT has a much stronger storyline than PC, so adapting it should be a lot breezier since they won't have to make radical adaption choices in order to make a watachable film. I expect adaptation-wise, VotDT is going to be more like LWW: most (if not all) of the events will be presented as they are in the book, but with additions to bridge them together and make them longer.

I really want this film to do well both for its own sake and for the sake of the series. The Silver Chair is my second favorite Narnia book after LWW, and a film version of that would be spectacular (even the BBC version was pretty strong). I also am itching for the Magician's Nephew. It's arguably the most emotional and character-driven of the seven and would put to rest those who've been feeling Narnia is so obsessed with battles that it's become Lord of the Rings Lite. I honestly couldn't care less about The Horse and His Boy (though I want to see it done for the fans and for completeness' sake), and I only care about the last third of The Last Battle, which has one of the best endings to a series I've ever seen. Let's see what happens. I predict VotDT will make more than PC but not as much as LWW, so proably around $200 million or so domestically.

I've actually never really read all the books  I bought the large book that has all seven (it came out around the time of LWW) so far I've only made it to...page 1

I know I've read the first couple chapters of the Last Battle, and the whole of Prince Caspian and Magicians Nephew waaaaaaay back in the 90's. The only one I'm really familiar with is LWW which I love to death.

Hm perhaps I should go get started on reading them :)

Anyways, I hope all seven books are turned into movies, 2 down 5 to go so far so good. I have't seen PC yet but it looks rather good.

Disney Pulls Out Of "Narnia 3"

Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media have confirmed that for budgetary and logistical reasons the Burbank-based studio is not exercising its option to co-produce and co-finance The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader with Walden.
You can read the full article at the link. I think this is outrageous. You're the ones who screwed up and opened Caspian the week before the most anticipated sequel of the past 20 years and two weeks after the summer's biggest sleeper hit. Of course it wasn't gonna make the money the first movie made. So instead of being smarter and opting for a winter release, you just drop the third movie altogether? You're ridiculous.

Y'know, the more time that passes by, the more I think Steve Jobs is wrecking Disney worse than Eisner. How many godawful films has he greenlit now? Let's see - College Road Trip, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, The Game Plan, Underdog, etc. Half of these flopped at the box office and the other half were huge hits for Lord only knows what reason. You're gonna turn your back on the biggest active franchise y'all have right now? (Sorry, I'll believe that Pirates 4 is in motion when I see it) Again - You're ridiculous. :headshake:

Jeers, to sheer stupidity,
JM :headshake:

The Hollywood Reporter says the third installment was in preproduction and set for a spring shoot for a planned May 2010 release. The development puts the participation of the talent attached in doubt, adds the trade. Michael Apted was on board to direct a script by Steven Knight. The key players of the second installment, "Prince Caspian" -- Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley, William Moseley and Anna Popplewell -- were to return for the third film.
No Voyage of the Dawn Treader .. :x

Good grief....those dang flab *mumbles* mother *bleep bleep* can't believe Disney would pull out in the middle of a franchise, I agree Prince Caspain came out in a uneven timeline, Dec. proved much better profits for the Narnia series. Hopefuly Disney will reconsider, then again....when has Disney EVER bothered to reconsider anything???

Steve Jobs hasn't greenlit anything, nor can he be blamed for wrecking Disney. I assume you mean Bob Iger?

I think it was a smart move for Disney to back out of The Dawn Treader. You have to keep in mind that the story follows Lucy and Edmund (the most obnoxious and forgettable characters in the series.) The movie will be on their backs and they won't be able to carry it. I can almost guarantee that with or without Disney attached this 3rd installment will flop much worse than the second film did.

Enchanted? That was on and off again in production for years before it actually got made.

Anyway, I'm sad that this is the case, like Disneykid I enjoyed Prince Caspian (what's wrong with it again? Was it because it didn't have a song by The Andrews Sisters in it? What did people honestly expect from it? The book isn't much to go on about to begin with so I thought the movie was great but anyway...) and looked forward to more adaption. I'm annoyed they skipped A Horse and His Boy since I loved that book in particular.

They are going in the written order of the books and not necessarily the chronological one that some genius decided to change it to in the 90s.

LWW
Caspian
VotDT
Silver Chair
Horse & His Boy
Magician's Nephew
Last Battle

The "reading order" is different and retarded and ruins the experience on reading the books. (It moves the Magician's Nephew from 6th to 1st and Horse and His Boy ahead of Caspian).

I guess I'm not terribly surprised, but I am terribly upset! I really enjoy the Narnia movies and was looking forward to future installments.

Well, that's horrible news. I was hoping they'd at least finish this film (which is my favorite book of the series) before pulling out--as I was sure they eventually would.
