Actually, come to think of it, I believe I was allowed to watch <i>Terminator 2</i>, <i>Top Gun</i>, and maybe one or two others at a younger age as well. The general policy was that if my parents watched the movie first and deemed it okay, then I could watch it, but I rarely asked. I do remember asking to see <i>The Bodyguard</i> and being told no (still haven't seen it).

I don't ever recall my parents setting a "You Can Watch R-Rated Films Once You've Reached (insert age here)" rule. Some films with PG-13 ratings are worse than R-Rated films, so it all just depended on the movie. I know there were some that I was always allowed to see (mainly the ones that are only given an R rating because of strong action sequences). But, of course, I wasn't allowed to watch just anything. Films with strong sex scenes (i.e. any film that stars Ashley Judd ) and frequent drug-use were, obviously, off-limits. The first R-Rated film that I saw in a cinema was <i>Meet the Parents</i> (2000) and that was with my entire family, so I guess that doesn't really count. I believe the first R-Rated film I saw in theaters with<i>out</i> my family was <i>Saw III</i>, and I didn't even realize it was rated R until after I had already purchased my ticket.

It's not a uniformly awful movie. It's just not worth sitting through for 2 hours. Not even close. In fact, it might be one of those 2 hour 5-10 minute movies. Which is 5-10 minutes worse. And in a lot of ways, it's a quite bad movie. And it was incorrectly marketed as a musical-drama. It's not. It's pure action-thriller. Action-thriller with what is best described as "Cardboard Conflict." Completely flat and lifeless, lacking intensity. The supporting cast also is just sad. Except 1 guy playing a creepy janitor type.

It's basically only worth watching if you are absolutely obsessed with Kevin Costner. And I mean, hysterically devoted, every waking moment watching his movies, buying all things KC off E-Bay, drawers full of stolen personal items, jars full of his sweat, blood, and [man-*stuff*], in a labratory basement trying to clone his DNA. That's the only kind of person this movie is really made for.

Honestly, it stinks. That's why the only real famous people in it were Kevin and Whitney.

If the Showtime Series Queer As Folk is considered R since I am considering it probablly is. I would have to say when I was 13. I used to watch it every Sunday night, when my parents volunteered at the Family History Center hehe.

hmm I can't remember, I think it depended on certaint movie content, rather then just not seeing it for the rating, but other then that I was probably around 15 when I was allowed to watch R movies around my home. Before then I would ocassioanly watch R movies, either at my friends or neighbours house or when no one was home. Really though as a kid through my early teens, my movie preference usually ranged from G to PG-13 anyways.

I think my first R-rated movie I ever saw was the Tom Hanks version of "Lady Killers".

Come to think of it... maybe Meet the Parents was my first R-rated movie too.

The sequel should have been rated R though. Bad humor and bad taste should get a bad rating.

As I posted in it, Conan the Barbarian was my first (at least the first full film I saw, with my parents' permission...)

My older brother took me, although I don't think my mother knew about the nudity in it...

I just realized this morning that I see like on average two R rated films a year. That's so weird.

I don't really pay attention any more, although I have noticed a few sequels where the original movie was R, and the sequels are PG-13... In my opinion, it completely changes the action or humor of the movie: Scary Movie 1 & 2 compared to 3 & 4, Conan the Barbarian compared to Conan the Destroyer, Die Hard 1-3 compared to DH4, and so on...

According to DVD Profiler, I have 104 R-rated movies, out of 929 titles total (which includes TV shows, anime, Unrated titles, etc.) I haven't used DVD Profiler for a couple of years, due to it crashing... I am at 1588 titles now, but I couldn't tell you how many are R-rated.

The first movie I remember seeing that I vivdly knew was R-rated was The Matrix, age 9. In theaters, I thought my first R-rated movie was Panic Room at age 12, but I guess it's technically Air Force One, when I was 7. My parents and I both thought it was PG-13 and to this day have absolutley NO idea why the hell it's rated R.

Really? I could have sworn it was an R-Rated film. But it looks like all signs point to PG-13. Come to think of it, I think <i>Jerry Maguire</i> was the first R-Rated film I saw in a theater, but I could be wrong.

When I was 11. It was the old version of Carrie.

I think it was Boogie Nights, I was like 11 or 12 and i was so nervous about my parents coming in the room and getting in trouble haha
