Yeah, totally agree with you Anthony. It they can't get them, especially Big, Steve, and Stanford, then they shouldn't even make it. It would really disappoint the fans if they didn't include the supporting characters in it. They don't realise that it wasn't just the four girls that made the show great, it was the supporting and recurring characters too.

Oh--I absolutely agree that they have to have the same supporting male actors back. Anyone else playing Big besides Chris Noth will not go over well with audiences!

Especially Stanford. He wasn't even shown in the series finale!

While we're discussing supporting male characters in "Sex", let me just say that I had a huge crush on Aidan Shaw (John Corbett).

And seeing him in "My big fat greek wedding" made it worse!

True Dottie, true, but I myself prefer a shorter-haired Aidan. :)

As do I. I had a huge crush on him while he was on Sex and the City. However, seeing him with long hair does nothing for me.

I did too. My crush was on the character, not the actor though. Carrie was CRAZY not to marry him!

Since his character in MbfGW was similar to the one on SatC, I gotta say I had a crush on the character and the man himself. Stunningly handsome!
But I liked the longer hair better :D .

It looks more and more like this thing is actually going to happen! While Michael Ausiello says that it's "fiction" that the movie is a "go" (because deals are still being finalized), he does give us a hint as to when it looks like it will start filming.

From TV Guide:

Rumor: The Sex and the City movie is a go!
Fiction. Deals are still being finalized. That said, all signs point to this thing going before cameras in mid-September.

Oh please, oh please, oh please let this movie happen!

Cool, thanks for that MM1. I'm thinking it'll be released around June, July, August next year, perfect timing as the summer will produce some tidy earnings from the box office and the DVD should be out by Xmas time, conveniently cashing in on gift-giving.
And I kind of had a crush on Aidan too, but definitely the shorter haired version, as in Matt's nicely provided picture. But never really that into him. More like a subconscious crush.

I think the movie is headed to theaters, not HBO. I hope it's going to be in theaters, because I don't have HBO! I remember reading, back when the series was ending, that they were planning a "big screen" version of it. That, to me, means the theaters.

I hope it's in theaters. That way it has more widespread appeal.

Yahoo!!! This is moving forward!

To answer Anthony's question, it will be in theaters.

'Sex and the City' Movie in the Works
Jul 5, 11:19 AM EST

The long-awaited "Sex and the City" movie finally has a studio and a starting schedule.

According to Variety, New Line Cinema is close to a deal to finance and distribute a feature version of the long-running HBO comedy.

The show's key stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, are all signed on to go into production on the "Sex" film this fall.

Michael Patrick King will direct from his own script.

Rumors of a "Sex and the City" feature have circled since the series went off the air in 2004. For a long time, the main holdout was Cattrall, though Variety suggests that her eventual contract for the feature included script input and a contract for a future series deal at HBO.

The actual plot of the feature is shrouded in mystery, as is the involvement of key "Sex" supporting players like Chris Noth.

"Sex and the City," based on the autobiographical columns by Candace Bushnell, won the 2001 Emmy for outstanding comedy series. Each of its four stars received Emmy nominations and Parker and Nixon won for lead actress and supporting actress in a comedy in 2005.

Wow, thanks guys for the links and info, really glad to see this project moving along so quickly. This means that I'll actually have to finish watching the series, cause I haven't seen it all yet, even though I know how it ends. I think I'm up to the beginning, or thereabouts, of Season Four. Is that where Kristin Davis and Kyle Mclachlan get married? If so, then that's where I'm up to. I've also seen a few more eps from Season six on cable. I'll have to buy all the DVDs to make sure though. I wouldn't want to watch the film without seeing the series before it. Who's is everyone's favourite character? I love Carrie and Charlotte. Not so fond of Samantha, but she's all right.
