Megara IS a princess and this is the coolest song ever!!

I quite like the Belinda Carlisle version of this too.

1. "Where Do I Go From Here" by Judy Kuhn ~ Journey to a New World
Basically, though I didn't like the movie, this song represents a lot of what I feel at this time in my life. I know who and where I am, but I don't know where to go next.

2. Reflection" by Lea Salonga ~ Mulan
"Who was singing down here? It sounded really good!" "Mulan?!" Heh, this song should ring true for everyone. The Christina Aguilera version has more powerful lyrics, but I prefer Salonga's voice. I suppose they tie for second place, but the Salonga version is what most people are familiar with.

3. "Just Around the Riverbend" by Judy Kuhn ~ Pocahontas
I'm in agreement with Disney's Divinity about Judy Kuhn's voice. Besides, this part has more than one meaning for me, in a humorous way: "Can I ignore that sound of distant drumming for a handsome, sturdy husband - " Ahaha; long and easy-to-guess story.

4. "So This is Love" - by Ilene Woods ~ Cinderella
I grew up knowing this sweet song.

5. "More Than a Dream" - by Tami Tappan Damiano ~ A Twist in Time
Not only do I find this powerful, but there's a very good message for young dreamers in it. Don't just dream of having a better life. Do something about your situation!

Other favorites are - in no particular order - A Whole New World, Follow Your Heart, Colors of the Wind, Belle, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, I Won't Say I'm in Love, Part of That World (Reprise), and Out of Thin Air. I think I just like Jasmine and Aladdin's first lines from Out of Thin Air, for personal reasons.

Haha, probably not. People that I know personally (well, Jasmine's bit anyway. Aladdin's bit is something I relate to myself).

That is so true! When you start to dissect the lyrics, Aladdin and Jasmine wanna do the deed!

Staged in what way exactly? A boy taking a girl out on a date telling what she can do and see with him? And then a girl expressing her emotion about being with this boy and how they feel together? Experiencing "a whole new world". Sounds like another love/romanticized song to me.

When watching the scene, they travel to different places, looking at the world outside of Agrabah. So I guess it depends if you just hear the song, or hear the song and see the visual.

can't find link but I think he making a reference to one of the Youtube video where some guy sang the song but twisting the words with sexual contents.

like inside of saying "riding on a magic carpet riddddeeee" it's "riding on a bed mattress riddeeee" and other sexual innedueo. Pretty funny though.

I saw the spanish version of that video. Hilarious!

Bit sad really. If you want to make sexual innuendo, then 'taking her for a magic carpet ride' is enough surely, without twisting it and adding anything smutty.

I suppose you can put sexual innuendo in almost all of the Disney Princess films if you really want to. I suppose the worst one is the main song in Snow White. Although, I'm not sure this is the most appropriate place to discuss it.

Which is precisely what I said only worded differently. The song on its own is hardly romantic. It's a song about hope, optimism and new beginnings. It's only staged as a love song to please a large target audience that seems to love the romantic antics of Disney characters.

well Ariel doesn't exactly sing it but i like Kiss the girl. the mood swing and the tone to the music really brighten me up with a grin on my face.

Well, I have to admit, that as a guy, there is something very appealing about the Disney Princesses.

There are so many wonderful songs, that it is dreadfully hard to pick just ten! But I have done my best Here they are:

1. Part Of Your World and Part Of Your World Reprise Sung By Jodi Benson ~ Ariel
It's really hard to describe why I love this song so much. To me, it's what Disney is all about; having hopes and dreams, wanting more than life has given you. It is touching and sweet, and I think it's actually a quieter Princess 'I want song', if you know what I mean. It is the theme to the movie, and quite rightly so. This should have won the Oscar, in my opinion. And for the Reprise half of the song, Ariel finds she has a goal in life ...Now there's a dream, now there's a goal, now there's a need I'll never control... Those were cut lyics from the Reprise, but it is essentially what the scene is about. The waves crashing upon the rocks when Ariel's emotion swells up into the final notes of the song get me every time; and it is just pure, classic Disney. This is one of the most recognised scenes in TLM, and from Disney movies all together. I listen to these beautiful songs every day !

2. Stories Sung By Paige O'Hara ~ Belle
I adore this song; it's so beautiful, and has such a wonderful sentiment behind it. Paige O'Hara's voice shines in this song. I feel that this should be used as Belle's theme far more often than Beauty and The Beast. I know some people may shoot me for that, but 'Stories' is a major clue to Belle's personality and how she deals with the Beast.

3. A Whole New World Sung By Brad Kane And Lea Salonga ~ Aladdin and Jasmine
This is a classic Disney theme, in the same vein as 'When You Wish Upon A Star'. So soaring and beautiful, along with 'crystal clear' vocals . A wonderful moment in Disney history.

4. I Won't Say (I'm In Love) Sung By Susan Egan ~ Meg
Such a wonderful song! Should be used far more than it is, just like the movie itself. Her vocals are so wonderful; strong and sassy. Meg is a great character, and it really shines through here.

5. Reflection Sung By Lea Salonga ~ Mulan
Wonderful sentiments behind this song; I think most girls have felt like this at some point. I know I have. Really pretty song; not one of the best, but one of my favourites.

6. Once Upon A Dream Sung By Mary Costa And Bill Shirley ~ Aurora and Philip
Lovely song, with wonderful sentiments and soaring vocals. When the Chorus comes in at the end of the song, its such a wonderful moment.

7. I'm Wishing / One Song Sung By Adrina Cassoletti ~ Snow White and The Prince
I actually prefer 'One Song' to 'I'm Wishing'. True Love shines through this song, and it is truely wonderful.

8. [/b]I Wonder Sung By Mary Costa ~ Aurora
Sweet little song, with lovely bird song in it. This song I guess is Aurora's character shining through.

9. Something There Sung By Paige O'Hara and Robby Benson - Belle and Adam (Beast)
I just love the music to this song, its really sweet and pretty. Its a turning point in their relationship.

10. If You Can Dream Sung By Disney Princesses.
The wonderful Princess anthem! Disney really went all out for this, and it shows. Really wonderful song.

If I could have non-princesses, I would have Alice and Wendy songs in my list

Getting back on topic...

I recently watched Pocahontas with my nephew and remembered the song "If I never knew you" (and I talk about the film version, not the pop version).

Even though its technically a John Smith song (consider he sings a great bulk of it) its perhaps one of the most romantic and sentimental Disney songs ever. Too bad they cut it out because people got restless through it .

Well, they were going to cut Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid. Show's what studio exec's know.
