I like Hanson quite a bit too, particularly their newer stuff. It's a shame that they'll forever be remembered for only "Mmmbop," which is a classic 90s pop song, but not really representative of their current musicianship.
Last I heard, The Walk was coming out May 22. Has that changed? Amazon only has the imports up, no pre-orders, and neither does the official site. It's hard to get info when you're dealing with an independent label.

I'm talking about everyone's insistance that the best music must always come from people who play their own instruments. It is overrated. Music is music. Regardless of who does what, the most important is the final product. Being talented doesn't always produce the best music. Some people are just talented at making pure noise. Not Hanson of course. But others.Simba3 wrote:I don't see how being talented is ever an overrated feature.Lazario wrote: That is such an overrated feature of musical artists.

I know that wether or not the artist plays their own instruments doesn't make them any more talented than artists who don't, but I do find myself much more impressed by artists who are playing something while they sing. And when the artist writes their own music, the fans get a better feel for who they are and it helps you connect more with the person.
A great example is Tim McGraw, who rarely writes his music and doesn't play an instrument. I think he's very talented and I like the music I've heard from him, but I don't feel a connection. I saw him live because a group of friends had an extra ticket and it was just him walking around a big stage singing.
On the other hand, John Mayer writes his music and I really conect with songs like "83," "Comfortable" and "Stop This Train." Therefore, I would be much more inclined to buy his next album or attend one of his concerts than I would with Tim McGraw. The fact that he plays lead guitar throughout just makes me very impressed.

According to people on the official Hanson.net message board (reliability therefore suspect), the album is now coming out July 24th in the US. Amazon also has a pre-order for "Walk" for that date, but then Amazon has a lot of listings for this album, so I'm not entirely sure what's going on there (a lot of imports, I think). Remember to support UD if you do decide to order through Amazon. Of course, if you preorder from Hanson.net, you can get the album in digital form immediately (and have the option of adding on the acoustic live DVD as well).

I somehow missed this when I read it the first time, but Zac dated Marion, and Isaac dated Marit...Taylor was likely with the girl he's married to now.goofystitch wrote:I think I've been sort of anti-Hanson mainly because Marion Raven (see below) dated Taylor Hanson back when she was with M2M and I have to admit that I was jealous.

You're welcome, Aaron! I hope you get to see them! I'm bummed because I don't have money right now for a ticket!!! It's not like they sell out at the House of Blues here (last year my friend bought a ticket the day of the show), so I should be okay until next week when I'll have money.
I don't really understand why they're doing a second leg of the tour in the same cities that they played in last year, but I'm definitely not complaining!!!
And, I just noticed that the pictures aren't working on the website that I posted the link for.
And it's kind of sad- lately if Hanson are on tour in the fall, they play in Orlando on October 21st (Zac's birthday is October 22), and the crowd sings "Happy Birthday" to him. But not this year.
And, I hope it's not cold in Illinois in November for when those people do the Walk! The Walk was a really neat experience, and as long as the House of Blues gives us first-come wristbands (so people couldn't cut us in line), then I'll be happy to do the Walk again! That sounds really selfish of me, but I get sick at some concerts, and being in the front row allows me to breathe and be less sick!

Taylor Hanson Expecting Baby No. 4!
By Rennie Dyball
for People Magazine
The Hanson baby boom continues!
Taylor, the middle brother of the rock trio Hanson, and his wife Natalie are expecting their fourth child this winter, they tell PEOPLE exclusively.
“Each of our kids has made life richer and more exciting,” gushed Taylor, 25, and Natalie, 26. “We can’t wait for this guy to join the party.”
Their little one will join a group of six cousins, including two recent additions: Zac and Kate Hanson welcomed their first child, Shepherd, in May, and Isaac and Nikki Hanson welcomed their second child, Monroe, in July. (Isaac’s son Everett and Taylor’s other kids – Ezra, Penelope and River – round out the bunch.)
This fall, the brothers will have their hands full as they set out on their recently-extended Walk Around the World Tour – with babies in tow. As Zac recently told PEOPLE: “We may have to think about getting a second bus!”
(To give credit where credit is due, I first read about this here:

I'm so happy for Taylor & Natalie! This is great news!!!

Hanson's tours last year & this year have a mile-long barefoot walk before the concert to raise awareness of AIDS. This year, I found myself walking right next to Taylor Hanson, and he was talking to a bunch of us, including me. I mean, I didn't say anything, but he was saying how we're not supposed to walk around Downtown Disney barefoot, because Disney doesn't want that, but that by walking barefoot, the true meaning of the walk [which is, in essence, walking a mile in a shoeless child from Africa's "shoes", which they don't have] is shown (or something like that). And I just remembered a few minutes ago thast last year during the walk, I like brushed against Taylor while walking. I had forgotten. I don't know how that's possible.
I finally have half-decent pictures of Hanson [the only other ones I have are from my friend's camera in 2000...and she didn't have zoom; my camera died, and I didn't know it until the concert], and I couldn't be more thrilled. I should've brought my picture-phone into the House of Blues, because people around me were taking pictures...but I didn't. Isaac Hanson was like 2 people away from me at one point, and I took a picture, but he's hidden a little...I didn't want to be rude and try again. Oh well. Maybe next year.
And I bought me some $4 water, and this was the first Hanson concert in 8 years that I didn't get sick. I guess dehydration must've played a part every other concert.
Here are the pics I took during the walk:

You were at the Orlando concert?!?!?! And you didn't let me know?!?!?!AwallaceUNC wrote:I was at the concert too... great show.
What time did you get there? I got there before 8:30am...it's part of the concert-going experience to camp out all day. Did you do the Walk? Where were you in the House of Blues? So many questions, lol. Did you think that Zac seemed sad? During the first part of the concert, I thought that Zac looked sad (I mean, I guess he sometimes does when he plays), but then when he did "Need You Now", he seemed happy...I guess he just gets in the zone on his drums, I dunno...I'm glad we can talk about this! I made some friends while waiting in line, but I have 3 other friends who I've met down here who like Hanson, and 2 didn't go, and one got there at 8pm, so I didn't see her there...Now I'm just rambling. Anytime you want to talk about Hanson, I'm up for it!

My friends and I didn't make a definite decision to go to the concert until the day of... I did email you because I thought you might be there, but you didn't reply! I was standing right behind the audio booth. We were in the Magic Kingdom all day followed by dinner at Wolfgang Puck, so we didn't get to the concert until 6 or so.
And yeah... we all commented on how Zac seemed to be acting weird... when he walked across the stage to grab his tambourine, he was dragging his feet.
Here are two crappy pictures I took with my phone. These can give you an idea of where I was standing...

Hmm...I never got an email from you.
Do you know which address you sent it to?
The best thing about the HoB is that it's so small- no matter where you are, it's a great spot. I wish I took pictures, but I never do in there, because I don't want to get caught. I was in the 2nd row- I was the 23rd person in line, which is pretty much what I was last year when I got front row, but people suck and they cut. But I could totally see- the people in front of me weren't super tall or anything. I didn't notice Zac dragging his feet...it was weird, because he cheered up a bit when he was on stage by himself. I don't think that that was the first time he seemed unhappy on stage, but still...

Taylor Hanson and His Wife Welcome Baby No. 4
By Rennie Dyball
Make way for the newest Hanson!
Taylor, the middle brother of the rock trio Hanson, and his wife Natalie welcomed a son, Viggo Moriah, on Tuesday in Tulsa, Okla., they tell PEOPLE exclusively.
"Viggo is doing great. He is the perfect early Christmas gift," the couple says of their 8 lb., 5 oz. arrival. "We look forward to being home to enjoy the holidays with him and his very excited brothers and sister."
Viggo joins older brothers Ezra, 6, and River, 2, and sister Penelope, 3. The growing Hanson family also includes their cousins, Isaac and Zac's kids, Everett, 1, Shepherd, 6 months, and Monroe, 5 months.
Taylor, 25, and Natalie, 24, announced in August that they were expecting.
Taylor and his bandmate brothers recently released Take the Walk, a book chronicling their experiences working to fight AIDS and poverty in Africa. They plan to get back into the studio early next year and hope to release a new album by the summer.
