Hi, sorry to bump this up but I've been around the forum and this seems like the most comprehensive guide for DAC DVDs.

The maker is still around but I was wondering if they could update this again? I think once done would be a very good addition to the website as a whole.

Please do update :)

(I am thinking of starting collecting too so this would be helpful)

No, don't be sorry! I'm glad you used the search option!

Sadly, yes, I still am. :P

Last year I actually considered revisiting this thread and updating/adding listings, but it eventually fell to the wayside and when Neal started this thread, he had plans on essentially "continuing" what I had started, but that too fell by the wayside as he started college and had less UD time.

I still have a lot of the info collected in my files and if I have time, I'll probably try to update it all here again.

Of course, I wouldn't want this thread to take away readers of the UD reviews for the Animated Classics. Those are far more thorough and informative. This thread is more for someone who needs to find a quick stat on something (like, if for some reason, a reader wanted to know how many stills were in the Early Concept Art gallery for The Emperor's New Groove.)

Thanks for responding so quickly!

I meant that this would be a great accompaniment to the UD reviews because like your title, it's a quick guide and putting both together would be quite comprehensive IMO. It would also be especially good for new fans/collectors in comparing between DVD titles since Disney tend to fail in creating a complete set.

Anyways, I hope you get the time to update!

:)

Edit: Either than DVDs and Blu-Rays, the only other medium where Disney released special features were Laser Discs am I right? VHS doesn't seem like it could have ever carried any specs although I do remember watching some in Snow White way back when.

And concerning LDs the only ones which received special features were Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Bambi, Saludos Amigos, Three Caballeros, Fun and Fancy Free, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Jungle Book, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Pocahontas & Hunchback of Notre Dame, right? (including other animation: Toy Story and Nightmare Before Christmas?)

You seem like the expert on these forums so hope you don't mind me asking.

Thanks!

Edit 2: Noticed that the first post now also has some Region 2 releases, those are the only ones which have had different special features?

Well, I remember that my old VHS copies of Sleeping Beauty and Peter Pan both had short "making-of" featurettes.

Is the Amazon marketplace trustworthy?

The Ultimate Toy Box and Fantasia sets are selling for $84 and Tarzan is selling for $16 or something.

What's the policy like?

Any help?

The Little Mermaid Platinum Edition Fact Sheet

-------
The Little Mermaid (Run Time: 01:22:36)

Scene Selection
------
27 chapters

Instead of a shortened mix of “Under the Sea” and “Part of Your World” seen on past releases (such as the 1999 “Limited Edition” DVD), the FULL version of “Under the Sea” and the “Main Title” instrumental play over the credits. The music was changed to accommodate the additional restoration credits.

If foreign language audio tracks are selected, the selected language's translation of “The Little Mermaid” (“Le Petite Sirene” in French, “La Sirenita” in Spanish) appears on screen at feature start (prior to the actual start of playback) and credits for that language's voice cast and translation staff play after the end credits.

Someone should do "Fantasia 2000" before it's released later on and maybe too, "The Black Cauldron" and "The Great Mouse Detective".

In the summer I will try and contribute to this list with:

101 Dalmatians Platinum Edition
Dinosaur: Collector's Edition
Atlantis: Collector's Edition

edit: For all Blu releases dvdcompare is very thorough with their analysis so that would take a few off the list.
