I got home 3 hours ago from a pizza party in Milwaukee for all of the students who got accepted in the area. There were only 12 there, but it was really cool. 8 alumni were there to talk to us about everything, give us some inside secrets, and to answer all of our questions. I was starting to dread the fact that I only have 10 days left with my family and friends, but now I'm pumped to get down there and start my training and find out who I'm rooming with and all of that good stuff. I almost wish I could leave right now. But I know the next 10 days are going to go by so fast. I have so much to do. I'm getting my car inspected tomorrow to make sure it's going to be ok for the 21 hour drive. I've gotta get my macbook (I don't want to bring a big PC down and I've been wanting one for a while), buy a digital camera, and find my vehicle registration and insurance information. I also need to buy clothes because I have a Wisconsin wardrobe, not a Florida wardrobe. My two pairs of jean shorts that I own aren't going to cut it. lol. I also need dress clothes since I just found out that I have to dress up for classes. I can't wait to go!

One of the benefits of NJ wardrobe is it's pretty much interchangeable with Florida wardrobe, but we wear long-sleeves a few months longer than they do!

When I came home after both my programs, I actually ended up with more Florida wardrobe than NJ wardrobe because I kept buying from the outlet malls!

Well, classes are once a week, so you really only need one set of dress clothes to wear once a week (for like 4 hours in an air-conditioned building) and it should be fine.

Still, it's good to have a few pairs, as you'll need one for "Indoctrination & Assimilation"...er, I mean "Traditions" as well as for your Park Orientation Training (like Magic Kingdom's "Once Upon A Time Is Now").
Got my "acceptance" packet a week ago, and I use the term loosely as it's just a formality for me these days. Didn't get Operations (so no Great Movie Ride as hosted by Escapay), but TBH, I'm kind of relieved. I'll still be able to enjoy the "magic" of GMR without being tainted by the behind-the-scenes workings of it.
And since it's my third summer in ODF, by now my managers will already know I want to stock (and do nothing else), so they won't screw me over and give me the damn nut wagon anymore (unless it's a favor to them and they can pay me back later with an extra day off...

). Plus, working MK ODF is great fitness and exercise, both times I lost quite a few pounds (30 in 2005, 20 in 2006, but that was due more to me being there from just May-August instead of January-August) thanks to the strenuous activity of it all!
Gonna fly down early-morning on May 23, which means I'll be getting little to no sleep on May 22. But I'm used to it, and since I'll be skipping out on the housing seminars of the first day (when they gather all the starry-eyed new CPs and explain to them in a couple hours how and how not to act in the housing complexes), I can take a nap in the afternoon then head to Downtown Disney for my traditional Earl of Sandwich dinner (third year in a row of going to Downtown Disney and getting Earl of Sandwich on my first day back in Florida).

Oh, cool! We arrive on the same day. I've never been to Earl of Sandwich... or most restaurants in Downtown Disney. I've been to Fulton's, but I hate seafood, Portabello Yacht Club, but I hate Mushrooms, Ghiardelli for a smoothie, and of course the chains like Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe.
One of my goals during my 7 month stay will be to eat in every restaurant. I opted not to do the roomate match to try to increase my chances of getting into Chatham. I just hope my job doesn't make that impossible (one of the girls at the party had to live in Vista Way due to her job location). The two guys who did operations were in Chatham, so hopefully that is where I will be.
I start my drive on the 21st. My mom and brother are coming with me, so we will arrive on the 22nd and probably eat at Mitsukoshi or something. In the morning we'll say our goodbyes (the guy I talked to said that after he checked in, he didn't have time to be with his family again before they left). I really can't wait. I wish tomorrow was the 21st.

Hi everyone- I'm chatting with Mason in the chat room, and he asked me to email him some info on the College Program...so I did. He may have some questions for people...he just wanted me to say that he's going to try and be in the CP...!

Awesome! Is he thinking of coming down this fall? Escapay is a better resource than I am seeing as I've been here a week and this is his third time, but if Mason wants a second opinion, he can PM me as well. That is so cool. Pretty soon, all of UD will be CP's. lol.

I just got jealous/intimedated by UD members meeting up with each other, + I've been meaning to find a decent college program too. I signed up round 12:00pm today, so how long do I have to wait for a notification, do I need to pay for some of this? alil help people.

Hey everybody! If I may hijack this thread and a moment of your time, that would be great.

I was wondering, is it possible for non-Americans to apply for the College Program (and I'm not talking about working at World Showcase)?

Disney-Fan,
here's the website for the International Program:

and here's the Wikipedia article:

Hope that helps a little!

BC85, thank you for the links. I really hope to get in once I'm done with my manditory service for the army (

three years of my life gone to waste). It sounds so exciting, and just the thought of being at Disney every day for a whole semester gets me all giddy and excited.

Mason, you have to watch/attend a presentation and afterwards, you schedule a phone interview. It takes between 2 and 4 weeks to get a reply in the mail informing you if you have been accepted or not. Good luck!

I watched the presentaions on the website, but just in case, can you give me the link to the presentations, please? how do I schedule a phone interview? I'll do it on monday. This program seems fun.
