Ariel deserved a punishment because she acted without thinking of the consequences. How many times do you hear stories about teenagers doing stuff behind their parents' backs and learn the hard way that they can't do that by either being tricked, hurt, or killed due to their own foolishness. Obviously the directors agree because Ariel was going to pay the piper. Trton stepped in like any lovcing father and took the punishment for her. But it's how Ariel initially went about fulfilling her dreams that has caused people to shun the film. I have no problem with how it plays though as she does get punished and makes it right with Eric's help.

Thought you guys might like this...Its a fan made version of the alternate ending...I think they did a good job.

I never owned the coloring book. I found it at my elementary school. I had some pictures scanned, but then my mom threw them out because they were just paper. I'm sorry.

The one image with Sebastian defeating Ursula is weird! They never said that was how it was going to happen! Why would they say Sebastian used Ursula's own magic when it was King Triton's? How could Sebastian use the trident when he is so tiny?

I own a COMIC BOOK where Ariel goes into Ursula's lair and sees skulls and bones on the floor of her lair with the poor unfortunate souls.

While The Little Mermaid was being made, Disney thought Ursula would be a skinny mermaid. They decided to make her an octopus later.

The early script says she has "fishy appendages", meaning she was going to be half-fish and half-human, a mermaid. I was trying to tell Uncle Ed that mermaids are half-fish and half-human because he thought they were half-mammal, like a dolphin or something.
