Well, I'll be seeing this a little later today, so, I'll give my take on it afterwards.

Well, for those who hate long waits, My review is here now. I'm not a big fan of Tom Hanks, and I thought it would be a big mistake casting him as I voice for an animated film because people would recognize his voice too much as Woody. Well, he plays 5 characters here, The Conductor, The Ghost Hobo, The Dad, The facial and body movement for the hero boy, and Santa. and while The Conductor, and the Dad are very much the same voice, the Ghost Hobo and Santa are very different voices, I, for one, didn't actually believe Hanks played Santa until I saw it in the credits. I do not think it was a very good idea to have Hanks play 5 different characters because, yet, at the same time, it sort of makes sense, because really, to the boy, all the adults in the story seem the same, possibly explaining 5 different roles. The animation in this film is fantastic, but the mouth movements look very bizzare, due to the human preformances animated over on the screen. This animation is better where Pixar's falls short, in realism, but because this style is more real, doesn't make the movie better. But, as I have said before, because of the strange body and mouth movements, this animation falls where Pixar's triumphs. Also, something I noticed about this film is that they were trying to make a movie out of a 30 or so page book. So there are parts that, to me, seemed very long. Like the part where they (Spoiler) are trying to return the girls ticket to her or the part where they are dangling in Santa's gift bag, (which I couldn't enjoy without that little thought in the back of my mind) (end spoiler) but all in all, this wasn't a bad movie, just not a great one.

Took our daughter to see it today and she really liked it. It was definitely not as good as I thought it was going to be (the animation did look a bit awkward on a few occasions) but all-in-all I thought it was an enjoyable film.

For anyone that has not seen it yet and does NOT know the story...don't ruin it for yourself by looking at or reading the book first! It really is a great Holiday story.

This is exactly what I was saying, only you said it much better than me! Also, I agree that the first scene you referenced in your spoiler is obviously a time-filler, but I thought it was also very cool and am glad it was included. What could have been better explained was the significance of the tickets in the first place. They sort of gave them some, but not enough to avoid feeling very fluffy.

Yeah..I bet they will pull an Elf by releasing the DVD a year after it's theatrical running- for obvious reasons.

I hope that when they do, they include the music video of Josh Groban's "Believe" from that movie, since it was Oscar nominated. I know he made a video for it, but no one has seen it yet.

I saw an Asian release date is set for April of this year, but that is most likely a bootleg....so don't believe it. I don't know about an actual US release date.

As far as Josh Groban's video.....I'm not sure if he actually did shoot one...yet. I know he was slated to film one for the DVD release, but it was put on hold he re-announced his tour for 2005.

If he does do a video.......Lord help us all! ( I love that man!)

I'm pretty sure I heard on his boards that he did indeed film one, right before he did his tour. I'll have to ask again and see.
