Maybe it's just me, but i think i prefer the pics on the right then. They seem so much clearer and lively to me. Are you sure that the PE is on the left?

Great comparison Escapay, would you mind making the mermaid screenshots a bit bigger? So far I like what I see. I think colors were re-registered for the mermaid scene due to tha fact that they don't match eachother. The mermaid screenshot looks real soft compared to the old transfer though.

ur not alone singerguy. the new edition excels for nighttime scene but lacked vibrancy for day scenes where it looked flat, overly wam and hot. one good example is the mermaid scene where the vine foreground doesnt look as prominent. but at least it fixed the overglaringness of skin tones for wendy and muted whites for john's pajama.

but enough complains from me. now i can finally say that i will probably never ever see any movies restored as walt intended for the rest of my life. every decades will claim to be restored to its original brilliance but it never will.

(okay i lied).

Something must be wrong with my eyes or something because I actually like the old one better.

You can see more detail in the other one, for example look at the first one with John and Micheal, you see a lot more of the bookshelf in the older one.

Also the Mermaid scene looks really faded and the colors look duller and you see a lot less of the lines so it kind of appears as if the colors just mash together...same for the Peter Pan screen shot.

I dunno the Platinum seems too soft and light for some reason. Maybe I have to waite until I see the platinum on the big t.v

Although on the ship screencap you can slightly see more detail then the other one...but then look at the background the lines are more defined.

Keep in mind that Escapay's screencaps are going to look different from someone else's. Furthermore, when the Platinum ones he's comparing to have to be downsized from what is probably already a compressed image, it's not a fair comparison. In other words, the programs/techniques used do act as a filter of sorts. While they're obviously not going to drastically alter what is really seen - it's enough to make a difference when comparing.

The text is in english cause i selected the english menu, wouldnt make sense to print the danish one... The audio is English, danish and norweigan as always on the R2DK releases, and for some reason they added a polish audiotrack aswell...

I was thinking about getting this version since it has English but is it true that it has a 14 on the spine?

Yes all the scandinavian classics are labelled with a gold number on the spine... Damn PR stunt, now we have to get them all!

Hmm, the new picture seems far too softer than the old edition. :? The difference can be seen in both posters screencaps. It's SO visible. :(

TonyWDA, as someone who's been here for over two months, I strongly encourage you to read through this thread:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=9799

The part about <b>Don't Go Overboard with Quoting</b> is especially pertinent. Is there any reason to include all the pictures from the first post in your Page 2 reply?

Yea it looks pretty good. but definatly way to soft and fuzzy. but no grain and dirt so thats good. maybe that was just what happened to the screenshots when copied or something.

RKO? That was removed from Snow White, Cinderella, Bambi and a bunch of others. Anything to do with the fact that Lowry isn't restoring the pictures anymore? At least they didn't do Little Mermaid and it looks like they didn't do Peter Pan.

I think they did the best job! whats wrong w/ lowry? I thought little mermaid was the worst transfer well not the worst but not as good as LaTT Bambi SW SB and others.

Thanks for this pic. I guess that the Platinum Edition DVD of "Peter Pan" did have the original logo, not the new logo. "Cinderella 3" did have a new logo, not the old one.
