fantasia/2000 also??? why not give it to pocahontas??

and aladdin and lion king again?? snow white is considerable enough because some ppl were late to catch the hype.or r they considering correcting their mistakes with lion king and batb in the next edition?

That news makes me very happy. That is the one PE I've been anticipating since the day I discovered the collection. Though I am still hoping October will go to a new title and not to a re-issue of Snow White.
It may just be coincidence but that answer made MagicMirror's release dates much more plausible. Though Sleeping Beauty before Pinocchio would dissappoint me. Meh can't win 'em all.

I think he said he THINKS
101 Dalmatians will be for Spring '08. I for one would like to see
Pinocchio be released first before
Dalmatians. I guess I'm in the minority on this one.

It would be great if 101 Dalmatians culd be next after Jungle Book. Pinocchio is my favourite Disney film, but I already have the previously released, 1 disc special edition (R2) and a few books, which are enough for the moment.
I'm more anxious for a release of 101 as very little art of the film has been released. I'd love to see the development of the design of Cruella, for example. I've only ever seen some storyboards and a piece by Ken Anderson of Roger's study.

I'm not sure if these are up to date, as they do not correspond exactly to UD's list on the main site.
Bear in mind I live in the UK, so the information could well be old info that has not yet been updated by the decision-makers in America. But it did get me wondering and hoping that 101 Dalmatians has been brought to an earlier time than before (after being pushed back so many times!).
well I live in the UK too and we don't have PE's, we just have Special Editions, so the upcoming Aristocats is as good as a PE here, but in anycase, you're right so far

I just hope your list starts being wrong so after 101D it is Pinocchio then Fantasia then Sleeping Beauty

Apologies, you're absolutely right. It's wierd that I never noticed that before...
In general, though, the DVDs that have a platinum equivalent in the US have more extras and tend to be more extensive than other SEs here.

I suppose, Disney should really change that though

Every film should be equal

Well, we (in the Netherlands) never had Platinum Editions either, but Peter Pan is the first one to bear the PE-name. Maybe it's the same in the UK?

Before I knew that
Peter Pan was going to be in the spring, I would've said that
101 Dalmatians would surely be the Spring release (for '08 ) because it's the "animal" movie. The only reason I thought this is because they had
Lady and the Tramp and
Bambi released in the spring with
The Little Mermaid and
Cinderella released in the fall. I guess that theory's been blown out of the water.

True, he did say he thinks. But we got word (doesn't mean it was official though) over a year ago that 101 Dalmatians was already going under restoration which is why so many of us assumed that it was coming this spring. I'm guessing that he may have worked on it, and that it could very well have been done by now. So assuming this scenario, i would "think" disney would be releasing 101 Dalmatians in the srping of 2008 too.

That, IMO, is the best interview UD has done. I'm hoping for "Pinocchio", "101 Dalmatians", and "Fantasia"/"Fantasia 2000" as the next PEs after "The Jungle Book" (in any order)...would "Fantasia" & "Fantasia 2000" be on the same PE set?
And, if anyone can shed any light on this for me, that'd be swell:
I understand that not everyone bought the earlier PEs. Would they be re-released on Blu-Ray (if so, I can understand why they'd re-release them). Would there be new bonus features? Even newer restorations? And, if the older PE sets become Blu-Rays, would they also be released on regular DVD? So many more questions, but this'll do for now.

To have
Fantasia and
Fantasia 2000 on the same set would kinda be logical, since they actually were released together on that 3-discer. Besides, they're both the same type of movie, are they not?

Well, I'm pretty sure Pinocchio is unofficially official (isn't that an oxymoron?) for next spring. Mind you, that's just my opinion, but I do hope that they do release it next after Jungle Book.

"The Fantasia Anthology" has 3 discs...I know that Disc 3 has bonus features on it, but do the discs with the movies have lots of bonus features, too? If the 2 movies are released together in one PE, then it won't have nearly as much bonus material as the Anthology, right?
I just emailed my brother- although not a huge Disney fan, he has "Fantasia" & "Fantasia 2000" on DVD, but I'm not sure if he has the Anthology...my secret reason is I'm hoping he doesn't watch it and will give it (or sell it) to me...

The picture is coming clearer now.
101 Dalmatians Spring 2008
Fantasia* Fall 2008
Sleeping Beauty Spring 2009
Pinocchio** Fall 2009
* Could be switched with Pinoc
** Could be switched with Fantasia
Well, it's pretty much certain where 101 D's will be. SB would be perfect for the Spring 2009 slot because it's 50th birthday would have been about a month before. The really only uncertain/logical ones would be Pinocchio and Fantasia.

Pinocchio had always been the unofficial official for the Spring 2008 slot (ever since the "revised" Platinum Schedule came in May 2003), but with the sudden bumping of Peter Pan to Spring 2007 (instead of what I expected to be a Spring 2009), it changed the schedule entirely. TJB was originally the Spring 2007, with 101 Dalmatians at Fall 2007. With Peter Pan's earlier release, everything shifted one slot over.
Big Disney Fan wrote:

Well they were released together the same way that Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were, in that the bonus disc was split between the two movies. If the Toy Box is any indication, the re-release would have the films separately and no longer together. I'd rather it be that way as there's little I can see that they can add to either release (aside from the original Deems Taylor audio and the uncensored Pastoral Symphony). They could update/expand the documentaries and make galleries easier to navigate, but there's not much that really needs improvement on each.

There's about 161 minutes of bonus material on the third disc (at least according to their label), so if it was split evenly, 80 minutes per feature. Disney could easily make two-disc editions by moving the extras from the film discs to the second disc like so:
New Fantasia Disc:
-Two Commentaries
-5.0 Fantasound
-5.1 DTS
Bonus Disc: (128 minutes)
-Documentary (48 minutes)
-Fantasia Legacy Materials (80 minutes)
New Fantasia 2000 Disc:
-Two Commentaries
-5.1 DD: English and French
-5.1 DTS: English
Bonus Disc: (128 minutes)
-Documentary (48 minutes)
-2 Bonus Shorts ("Melody", "Toot, Whistle, Plunk, & Boom")
-Fantasia Legacy Materials (80 minutes)
They could also update/expand the materials as I mentioned earlier in the post.

I would be perfectly content with that line up except I would switch Fantasia and Pinocchio for sure. I'm not too sure why I would want it that way, but to me it would just make more sence! Then again, Snow White is probably going to be thrown into that mix so, who knows really...
