where is this newest release ?
I think is a one discer.
I also agree. The DVD looks just like the Miramax release. The movie was rated PG-13. I don't think Disney would shift the release to another label...but who knows. Here's hoping for a 2-disc release.

From RightStuf.com:

DVD Features: Anamorphic Widescreen, Storyboards (Plays Storyboards as Alternate Angle), Trailers

Bonus Disc Features: Interview: Writer/Director Isao Takahata, Interview: Film Critic Roger Ebert, Author Biography: Akiyuki Nosaka, Director Biography: Isao Takahata, Creative Team Interviews, The Fire Bombings in Japan: Commentary by Professor Theodore F. Cook & Professor Haruko Taya Cook, Video Restoration Documentary, Original Japanese Theatrical Trailer, Art Gallery, U.S. Trailer.

DVD-ROM Features: Script, Additional Storyboards, Art Gallery. Cast & Production Credits, Reviews, Awards and more!

Spoken Languages: English, Japanese, English subtitles.

Grave of the Fireflies really is worth owning. It's just a hard movie to watch more than once or twice. The movie was originally a double-feature with My Neighbor Totoro and showings where Totoro was showed first...people didn't stay around for Fireflies. But showings with Fireflies first had more people staying through to watch Totoro.

Disney DVDer - there is no two discer nor is there any sign of one. The thread is only hoping.

The company that has done all of the voiceovers did an interview about six months ago basically disclosing Ocean Waves, Only Yesterday and the Ghiblies shorts were all in the can or being worked on. They said they had not been asked to do another effort for Princess Monokoke.

Given how poor the extras have been for the two discers for the most point and how good the sound and video are on the current release, I would advise you to buy the current one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I think i saw the interview at nausicaa.net

There is a sign of one. Earlier this year, a big list of future titles was shared with me, and most of them have come to fruition. Princess Mononoke: Special Edition was among them, but there's no estimate as to when. For that matter, it's not definite we'll see it. "Sweet Valley High" Season 2, "What About Brian" Season 1, Collector's Editions for the Kill Bill movies, and "America's Funniest Home Videos Uncensored" were all among the list too and we've yet to hear anything (or anything new) about any of those.

As the Studio Ghibli discs have obviously been at least decent sellers (especially the Miyazaki-directed ones), it makes sense that BVHE might revisit the one whose release predated all the others, even if only in the basic 2-disc format that has been employed for most of the rest.

Wow, it's been about a year since this thread was started, and I sit here wondering, will Princess Mononoke still be released under BV? Has there been any news at all regarding the release of PM? If anyone has any information, please post. I would really like to know if a new edition is coming, or if I should just purchase the other edition.
