These arent some limited edition shiny covers, its just the basic cover with a couple of shint bits on the cover....

yeh the box set with both films has a shiny cardboard cover

I know but I really liked the style of LATT and if it doesn't come with a slipcover, I want something special *wait's for escapys rant about slipcovers and what's more important the cover or the movie*

As I've said before; I'm getting the boxset of both TLM and TLM2 and I know that the actual boxset is shiny hence "Ariel123" confirmed it, I just really want my Little Mermaid 2-Disc Special Edition to be shiny as well. Has anyone else bought the boxset, if so could you please tell me what version you get (Shiny or Non-Shiny), thanks.

Don't know if anyone else noticed but there is also one other small difference between the shiny and non shiny packages, the shiny cover has the usual 'Disney's 28th animated classic' written on the back above the synopsis however the non shiny cover has somethin completely different.
Appart from this both dvd's are exactly the same.

anyone have an idea why the uk covers say '2 disc special ed', but the us ones say '2 disc platinum ed' ?

Yes. We don't "do" Platinum editions. Nowhere outside the US does.

I went into Blockbuster and they never got their copies in buth they had display cases with OUT OF STOCK on them

I got the boxset at 9 this morning, and TLM SE does indeed have the shiny cover in the boxset. THE DVD IS AMAZING PEOPLE!! I know this wont bother a lot of people, but mine didnt have TLMIII trailer, only the sneak peek. Any reason for this?

and ive also just noticed that there is no picture on the spine of the dvd, just like Bambi and Lady and the Tramp. I guess Disney stopped doing that with Cinderella?

I got my boxset yesterday (6/11/06), it came with the shiny version of the cover so I was really pleased (I might get the non-shiny one as well but I'll wait until The Little Mermaid is in a BOGOF offer, which won't be for a while). "Ariel123", I must correct you that the actual boxset itself, isn't shiny. I'm not dissapointed that it isn't 'cause it still looks incredible. TLM2 still has the same cover and trailers, it just has the new hologram on the side and "Walt Disney Pictures Presents" font (I wasn't actually dissapointed by this, to be honest I would have loved a new cover but I didn't think they'd change it, so it's what I expected. Besides, the original isn't that bad so I'm happy with what I've got.) The DVD is amazing you just have to get it! The picture quality is remastered well and still manages to mantain it's originality, I enjoyed watching every minute of the movie (It's my all time favourite). The bonus features are great too, they have a meaty "Making of The Little Mermaid" (I won't go into any detail though, I'll leave you to find that out for yourselves) and a really sad "The Story behind the story" about Hans Christian Anderson; in which his life is reflected in the story of "The Little Mermaid". There is also a 1940s adaptation featured in this too. There is also another really sad story on the disc called The "Little Match Girl" (Also a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen). Overall, this is one phenomenal DVD and it has to be included in your collection whether you collect Disney films or not.

My dvd doesnt have the sneak peak of lm3 like it said it does on the back of the box It only has the trailer.

Also how do i find these easter egg hidden bits ppl are talkin bout?

They are region 1 only

I got my DVD today love the Little Mermaid III sneak peek but like with all sequels it's only getting a rent but I can't find the Peter Pan trailer

Did any of you notice on the pics Nick Bryant posted, that on the shiny case there is a shiny Disney DVD logo at the bottom right of the case, whereas on the other, there is a regular Disney DVD logo with what looks like "With Disney's Fastplay". Since when have Disney Region 2 suddenly adopted Fastplay?

the shiny one also has fastplay on it, i know because the only way to view the Peter Pan trailer, LMIII Sneak Peek and Cinderella 3 trailer is to use it

My trailers played automatically. There was an advertisement with a man saying "This DVD is enhanced with FASTPLAY, blah blah blah..." Then the trailers played as they usually do on Disney DVDs. The order I had was Peter Pan, Cars, Cinderella 3, The Little Mermaid 3 sneak peak. I'm sure there could have been more, or in a different order, but I'm thinking off the top of my head right now! Then the movie played, and when the credits had finished, it went straight to the main menu. there were also loads of 'sneak peaks' that could be accessed from the special features menue on disc 1. yamiiguy, how come yours did not play right away?
