Got two records recently. First up, Sydney outfit The Cops released their new EP '80 in the Shade'.

Image

The single, "Call Me Anytime", is a bit of a catchy one.

I was also bought a copy of The Beatles - Love (CD + DVD-A).

Image

While I would normally think it is blasphemy to remix The Beatles, the involvement of George Martin makes a huge difference. It isn't so much a remix, anyway, so much as a collage of Beatles tunes themed to the new Cirque du Soleil show. It provides us with a new way of listening to the familiar songs, and in doing so, emphasises just how great they always were (as if we didn't already know).

Can't wait to go back to Vegas and see the show!

Gotta love how they outright lie on the package though... Double Live only has 25 songs. 13 on the first CD (but 14 tracks because Garth thought having 13 on one would be unlucky, so track 13 is crowd noise) and 12 on the other.

You buy this? But you don't have The Country Bears soundtrack? Shame on you!

Anyhow my new arrival:

Doctor Who: Blood of the Daleks Pt 1
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_of_the_Daleks

(I've subscribed to all Big Finish/BBC7 8th Doctor Radio play CDs - 1 a month for 8 months)

Wow. I'm listening now, and Sheridan Smith is wonderful as the new companion Lucie. When she calls the Doctor a "frock coated fop", asks "that is your real hair isn't it?" and gives him more ear-ache than ever before in the 1st 5 minutes, you know you're listening to something good. I've already laughed a good 4 or 5 times.

I looked this song up on YouTube and boy was I surprised by it! After hearing her on High School Musical and "her" cover of "Someday My Prince Will Come" on Disneymania 4, I was incredibly surprised in the difference in style. Hmm...I guess that may be a reason why her album isn't with Disney's record companies?

If The Country Bears soundtrack had been on sale for $7 at Disney Store, I would've gotten it!
Kram Nebuer wrote:I didn't realize they were back! (with haircuts too, thank goodness.)
Yeah, they made a big comeback in 2005. Their "Penny and Me" single went #2 on Billboard. You probably heard it but may not have known it was them. It was their biggest hit since "MMMBop". The Underneath album is amazing. Pure musicianship.
blackcauldron85 wrote:First off, Aaron...I love Hanson. They're my favorite band! Great choice! Their new CD is coming out sometime this year!
The band goes severely unrecognized and underrated. They're making some of the best music out there right now. Unfortunately, the "MMMBop" little-boy band, look-like-girls stigma hurt them after the '90s were up, but I was happy that they were able to transcend that on their last album. Everyone should give them a chance again, as they're no longer a boy band, but an actual band, producing some edgy acoustic rock.

I didn't know their next album was coming in '07. That's exciting!

Actually, "Underneath" came out in 2004 ("Live and Electric" came out in 2005... :))

You can go to Hanson's Myspace page (www.myspace.com/hansonmusic) and hear at least one new song ("The Great Divide")...haven't been there in a little bit, but that's probably the only new song on right now. They also have a song on the new "Van Wilder" CD, called "The Ugly Truth". I didn't buy that CD, but I heard the song. I'm so excited for their new CD!
