I also liked the cover of Cinderella that used the glass slipper at the bottom (Even though it's one of my least favorite Disney movies)

I think most disney dvd covers are made using photoshop or some other kind of graphic design program

Those were really interesting! If you noticed, the BatB cover they didn't use was mostly the old VHS cover, just chopped around a bit. Belle in that version looks like how she appears in the movie. But in the second and final version, she has been edited, as well as beast. Her hair is far darker, redder lips, and darker eyes. Beasts changes are only slight i think, i really only noticed Belles. What do you guys think?

I love the final cover, I was just wondering why they felt the need to change Belle.

I have to say I like the fourth one the best. Wish it was used!

Thanks to http://www.mouseplanet.com/ for the images!!
I like the final cover, But i really love #2 and #5 /especially #5) just as much... I think the transformation in #2 is nice... and # 5 is just plain goregious...

However i REALLY hate #1 its just bad in almost every way... and i think #4 is really bad aswell... The way the slipper is placed makes the picture very disharmonious IMO...

:o Those Cinderella covers are WAY better than the one they actually used, IMO.

Well, yes and no. It wasn't the preliminary artwork (the preliminary artwork and the final art are exactly the same); it was the crappy, blown-up version meant for retailers so that the characters and letters show up better in promotional material. Disney did such a sloppy job on Mermaid's retailer cover that instead of repositioning her over the background, they cut and pasted her...onto herself. That's why an extra middle and ring finger appear directly underneath Ariel's own middle and ring fingers. Her hand has never had seven fingers on official artwork, though.

I remember for the second VHS release of "The Little Mermaid," magazine adds would often show a different cover. I had cut them out back then and had 4 different cut outs of the cover art, each one drastically different, but with the same gold border. Many of them were much more appealing than the one that was released. I wish I could find them somewhere.

I'm certain they were thrown away because they were added to a Disney collage I made back in 1998 and I remember my little brother destroyed it, so I doubt any parts of it were kept, but if anybody else remembers or has them, let me know. I remember I got most of them from magazines like "Family Fun" and "People," as well as newspaper adds.

Back when TLM was released in 1997 on VHS, I remember seeing it advertised in a magazine, and it had completely different cover art. It was not even close to the real one, and it was the only place I had seen it. It had Ariel on land, sitting there, with Flounder and Sebastian. I wish I had kept it to show you all!
