I saw a bit of this on Entertainment Tonight the other day, and my god, I couldn't stop seeing the similarities between it and The Devil Wears Prada. I swear that when I eventually get to watch it (can't be bothered watching it online) I will not stop thinking of Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. I mean the theme song, the storyline, the main character, everything is nearly identical, though seeing as I haven't actually seen it yet, I can't really comment. For all I know it could be a completely different show, but then again, I doubt it. Regardless though of the similarities between Ugly Betty and The Devil Wears Prada, I'll probably end up watching it.

If they can keep the quality of writing at this level, and keep the characters this interesting, this should be the 'hit show' of the season. America Ferrera and Vanessa Williams are so perfect in their respective roles. I like the way each show ends with a sort of moral for us to believe in. I am officially hooked on "Betty", and she isn't so Ugly.

I thought you should all know that there was a parody of Ugly Betty on Weekend Update last night(part of Saturday Night Live). They made a joke that becuase the show is such a huge hit, NBC has their own version coming out titled "Fugly Betsy" and had the star talk about it, who was Fred Armison dressed up like America Farerra. And the producer of the show was Charro, so Mia Rudolph was on playing her. It was hilareous.

Episode 3 :: "Queens for a Day"
I absolutely love Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina ... I know I've said it before ... but she is just perfect as the wickedly evil ('sposed to be editor) fashionista of MODE ...
Well ... this episode focuses on Betty trying to land the world-famous (and her favorite) photographer Vincent Bianchi ... But Bianchi is not as eager to work with MODE due to the fact that he had a rough relationship with the magazine in the past ...
But ... Betty has the upper hand ... It seems that Betty and Vincent grew up in the same borough ... So she's just (she's just) Betty from the Block LOL ...
So ... Bianchi sets up a lunch meeting with Daniel Meade and requests Betty be there ... Uh-oh ... So Betty decides to get a makeover so that she can look as if she is a part of the MODE family ...
Grab the rhinestones ... Clip the toenails ... Glue on the faux nails ... Spray the aquanet ... Betty goes all out for her makeover ... and she looks ... uhh ... Well Wilhelmina says is perfectly ... she looks as if "queens threw up" LOL ...
Just as Betty is getting ready for her lunch meeting ... Wilhelmina is primping for her date with the senator ... her father ... the person she can never do anything right for (or at least through his eyes) ...
The MEADE mystery continued to deepen ... Bradford is continuing his own investigation on Fey Sommers' "death" ... It appears that the "death car" has been sent to a junkyard ... and the owner of the junkyard has put it up for sale ... But ... upon inspection ... it will be obvious that the car has been tampered with ...

In Holland we have an Ugly Betty series too. It's called Lotte and airs on weekdays. It's a funny show.
This is a picture of our 'Betty':
She is played by Nyncke Beekhuyzen.

there's two versions in Germany, one of wich is called Verliebt in Berlin. It's a hugely popular concept for some reason. I like our dutch version, it's not brilliant, just good.

Marc ... Amanda ... and Betty ... what an odd trio LOL ... but I admit I was delighted by their teaming up to keep quite and keep their jobs ...
ASSISTANTS UNITE!
It all started off with each one of them blabbing small details about MODE's Christmas feature layout to a magazine's rival ... and the other magazine stealing that idea ...
The mystery continues ... the mysterious music box reappeared ... and it we learned that Bradford had an affair with Fey that no one knew about ... except for Bradford's wife ...
But ... now Betty and Daniel know about the affair ... because the music box was stolen from Bradford's possesion and it landed in the veiled woman's possesion ... and then placed on Daniel's desk ...
Also ... Ignacio Suarez is the name of Betty's father ... or is it?

I just got finished watching last night's episode off of ABC.com. It was fantastic! The only bad thing is that I'm forced to watch it online (or on the DVR) until Survivor is over.

I didn't get a chance to post about last week's episode because I was studying for the DAT ... So here I go ...
Spooky times were had last week on UGLY BETTY from start to finish ...
Starting off with Marc's wickedly delightful Halloween costume ... Betty Suarez! LOL
Betty was told to wear a costume for the annual office Halloween costume contest ... so she dresses as an adorable butterfly ...
Going to work she runs into her ex Walter ... and he catches her with his net ... He gives her a bowel full of candy with a special note at the bottom ...
When she arrives at work ... she realizes that the memo sent to her email about the contest ... was only sent to her LOL ...
At the bottom of the bowl there is a note that asks her if she would like to move in with Walter ...
The core of the episode has Betty running around town to visit the various women Daniel has slept with because he can not remember where he left a very important watch ... turns out he had left it at Amanda's place ...
The veiled woman's frustration continued to grow ...
Daniel visited his mother in rehab to get the full information on Bradford's affair with Fey ...
Betty had a lunch date with an accountant that works at MODE ... but Walter caught her in the "act" LOL ... in the end ... Betty decided it is best not to play the field ... and she stayed with Walter ...
Also ... Betty discovered that her father is not a US citizen ...
