I think it would be fun to put a Narnia ride in Fantasyland. The riders can be the Son of Adam and Daughters of Eve. The ride could start by passing through the wardrobe and then it could pass the lamp-post. You can then immediately visit the beavers to learn the prophesy. Then you can be chased away and eventually meet Aslan. You can also build up the the battle and go through a few scenes from the battle. At the end you can look at yourself in a mirror that shows you on your thrown ruling over Narnia. Just an idea to throw out there....

The trouble with a Narnia ride is there will be seven different Naria films and it will be hard to chose which film to make a ride off of. The Siver Chair and The Voyage would make very good rides also.

Well, I don't think Disney or any of the cast has commited to seven films. Last I heard, there were only plans to do 3. "The Lion, the With, and the Wardrobe" isn't the first book in the Narnia series. "The Magician's Nephew" is. It wasn't made into a Disney film and I don't believe they plan to do so. The third book in the series, "The Horse and His Boy," isn't being made into a film either. The fourth book, "Prince Caspian," is going to be the second Disney Narnia film.

They could easily do a Narnia ride without making it central to one story. I think a great ride would simply be an adventure through Narnia. I think it should deffinatley start with the vehicles going through the wardrobe and coming out by the lamp post. You could see pivital characters, such as the white witch and Aslan and characters from the other films, and you should go by landmarks of Narnia. It doesn't need to focus on one particular film.

There's two "orders" for the Narnia books.

Publishing Order (which Disney is following and half the readers prefer)
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
Prince Caspian
Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Horse and his Boy
The Magician's Nephew
The Last Battle

Chronological Order (which the other half of the readers prefer)
The Magician's Nephew
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
The Horse and his Boy
Prince Caspian
Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Last Battle

With the Publishing Order, the first three books make up a trilogy for the Pevensie children (though some of them return in The Last Battle, and are referenced in The Horse and his Boy), which is likely what Disney wanted.

I wouldn't mind, though, seeing all seven books (especially The Magician's Nephew) become films.

Yeah, I already know about all the books. I was under the impression Disney was going to do all the books...if each of the films are successful.

I have all the books although I still haven't finished reading all of them. The children are more then refered to in the book, they actually have a bit of a cameo. The books tell the story of Narnia, not the story of the children, thus the title of the series.

I always thought The Horse and His Boy would be tough to make into a film because it would look anti-Arab, we will see how that goes.

If the Eustace character from Voyage of the Dawn Treader is an audience favorite, I wouldn't rule out seeing The Silver Chair.

If you did a general conscensus of what everyones favorite rides in the Magic Kingdom are, these rides would be on that list: "Pirates of the Caribbean," "The Haunted Mansion," "The Jungle Cruise," "Big Thunder Mountain," etc... What stories do these rides follow? Merely a premise. Pirates taking over British ports in the Carribbean. A ghostly tour through a mansion. A journey down the rivers of the world. A mine train gone awry. I have read several imagineering books. Great rides don't typically start with a story. They start with an idea. In Disneyland, I have a hard time telling somebody that there is a story to the Indiana Jones ride. However, I can explain that it is a journey through a forbidden temple with the infamous Dr. Jones. Rides are more about getting a reaction out of you than telling a story. Granted, recent attractions, such as Everest, have a great story to back up the ride, but the most popular attraction at EPCOT, Soarin', is simply a hang gliding simulator. Unless the Narnia ride is going to be on the scale of the Fantasyland dark rides, I really don't see it trying to tell a story as much as it will try to throw guests into the amazing world of Narnia. I can see them converting some of the sound stages at the Disney MGM Studios into a giant sled ride through Narnia where you see all of the memorable vignettes from the film. It's not impossible to incorporate a story, but it would be successful without one. I'm not saying there won't be a story. I'm just saying it doesn't necessarily have to have one and the story is such a long one to tell that it is impossible to explain it in a 5 minute ride. The walk through experience, which is horrible, takes 30 minutes and has no story.

I think Narnia would be better at Animal Kingdom at the "rumored-but-never-built" Beastly Kingdom than Fantasyland. In fact, the a whole Narnia land would be awesome, as they could ever have "Narnia weekends" not unlike "Star Wars Weekends". I also agree that AK needs the most help of all of four parks as it was the only one I did all the attractions in less than one day(of course, this was in 2004, so I haven't been on EE and of course the upcoming Nemo show) so I think either Beastly Kingdom or Narnia being added, AK would no longer feel "half-completed".

Epcot and MGM Studios do have enough imo(though that doesn't mean that couldn't include even more), I think the problem with both is that they need serious updates and fast!

MGM Studios- I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they don't include a big Pixar invasion. I hope they can get more unpopular Disney titles, or like slave2moonlight said, bring more classic Hollywood references. Heck, why not try to keep the MGM name by getting more of The Wizard of Oz for example, and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE references(and even rides) for The Pink Panther or James Bond(well actually MUCH MORE for the former than the latter for me, as I'm not the biggest 007 fan, but an attraction could offer SO MUCH potential). So I think work can be done with MGM Studios, I just don't think anything more needs to be added without replacing anything.

Epcot- Great concepts, big enough already, just need serious updating, particually Innoventions. And they need to do something with "Wonders of Life". Although, if the rumored Pixarization will go, might as well leave it empty. But still I hope they think of something soon, especially since Epcot turns 25 next year. It would be awesome if the rumored "Preject Gemini" happened.

Magic Kingdom
I've mentioned several times in this forum that there is adequate room where the 20,000 Leagues Lagoon used to be, seeing as they paved it and covered it up with trees. The Pooh playground only takes about 15% of the space there, if that. I also mentioned that it would be a good idea to put some kind of Little Mermaid attraction there, since it's right next to Ariel's Grotto. This is what the site had to say:

The big rumor over the last 24 hours is that the Magic Kingdom may be preparing to announce their own version of Mermaid Lagoon for the remainder of the old 20K submarine lagoon site. Mermaid Lagoon is an indoor/outdoor “land” at the Tokyo DisneySea theme park positioned as a sort of mini Fantasyland area. You can take a brief tour around it over at MousePlanet. Now I’m sure if they do build a Mermaid Lagoon at the Magic Kingdom it will not be a pure copy of the Japanese version, and at this point I couldn’t even guarantee if it will be mostly indoors or if they will cut the budget and just make an all outside version this time around. To help put the icing on this rumor’s cake is a report that Imagineering was conducting a balloon height check test on this very site two days ago. I can’t promise anything but there is a chance that something could be announced next week. It seems that Disney is not only supposed to be having some media days this week but they are also “conveniently” launching the new Platinum version of The Little Mermaid on DVD on October 3rd and we know Disney is all about synergy.

The caslte has been striped of it's gold trim from the 50th and there is now a crane along side of it as it gets ready to be painted.

The Haunted Mansion is rumored to be given a rehab in the near future. Imagineers want to do something better with the spider room and they might posibly add a gift shop to the exit. I just hope a gift shop doesn't take away from the facade of the mansion itself and I would hate to see the ghost horse and pet cemetary be removed for it.

The Laugh Floor Comedy Club, the "Monster's Inc." attraction that is replacing The Time Keeper, is set to open this January.

EPCOT
Nemo is scheduled for a soft openeing on October 13th. Here is an excerpt about the new ride:

Screamscape has heard a little info about the insides of the new Nemo attraction, and so far the word is good. I’m going go try to not give anything away that might spoil it, but if you don’t want to know anything at all, stop right here.
Apparently the queue is quite large for this new ride and has been given a beach theme. As you move forward though the queue area, you will be given the impression that you are moving closer to the water and eventually walking under the water, which will be reinforced by a view of the bottom of a boat attached to the ceiling. This is all before you’ve even boarded the Clammobiles. From here I’ll leave out any details other than to say that the scenery work is apparently really great and the projections from Pixar are also said to be top notch work. The EAC effect is also said to be quite convincing and if there is one downside people could comment on, it’s that the real marine life just are not as impressive looking as their new Pixar counterparts.

It has been heavily rumored for some time that the video in the Canada pavilion would change. It is now confirmed that Disney currently has a team in Canada filming what they call "Disney’s Canada CircleVision Film."

Unfortunatley, there is no new news about the removal of the Wonders of Life and what will replace it, but as of March, it has been rumored to be the infamous Project Jemini that they originally planned to replace the ride inside of Spaceship Earth.

MGM
Rock N' Rollercoaster is heavily rumored to undergo a brief rehab from January to February.

Midway Mania is being set for a late 2008 opening.

Sources tell us that 2009 has been earmarked for the opening of a new family attraction. What was not made clear is if this is a complete new attraction or a replacement or renewal of an existing attraction. There are several show theaters that could use something new I’m sure... and there is there the long standing Star Tours 2 project. More on this as we find out.

Animal Kingdom
No news, but I'm not expecting any major changes in the Animal Kingdom for a year or two seeing as Everest just opened.

A Mermaid Lagoon, especially even close to as gorgeous as the one at Disney Seas, would be a wonderful addition! It stinks that it probably won't be nearly as good. Not making it indoors with the reflective ceiling? Then what's the point. I certainly hope that, if they DO this, that they don't do it half-assed like that. I really would love it! HOWEVER, I don't love the fact that it just holds carnival rides. I would rather they build that little Mermaid Dark ride, in addition to the carnival type stuff. Well, maybe the Jellyfish thing is fun. I have no idea what that is like. Loved the pic of the shop, too, in the whale's mouth! Being a HUGE Ariel fan, I'd go wild in that shop if I had the cash! I have to admit, though, when I read "Mermaid Lagoon," my first thought was of the one from Peter Pan. They should call it Atlantic, really.

I also wish, though I'm sure I've mentioned it before, that they would work on Toontown a bit. Add a new ride or something. I'd love for Florida to get the Roger Rabbit ride. And, while I'd love for Haunted Mansion to get a themed shop, I agree that it would suck if it messed up the look of the place!

Not happy about Monsters Inc. being in Tomorrowland, because they have nothing to do with the future. I love Monsters, Inc, but they belong in Disney MGM Studios ONLY. I hope that is a temporary attraction, but replacing it with the Monsters Inc ride would, again, be inappropriate. That belongs at Disney Studios if anywhere.

I'm actually happy about Nemo being at Living Seas. Looking forward to experiencing that when I finally get back out there. Might be the first smart change to EPCOT, IF they keep it more focused on being educational than about the movie. I don't want Future World to become PIXAR-Land either!

I'll be disappointed to see a change in the Canada film. I just LOVE World Showcase and don't want to see much change to it. I'll be so disappointed if they no longer have the song, "Oh, Canada," but I'm sure they won't. I really gotta upgrade that fave WDW cassette of mine to a CD. It's got ALL those great EPCOT songs!

Even though it was one of my least favorite pavilions, I will greatly miss Wonders of Life. I wish they would update/modernize these pavilions instead of replacing them. Of course, most are replaced (or going to be) already). Hopefully, Imagination, The Land, Living Seas, and Spaceship Earth will survive throughout with only upgrades rather than all out replacements. The problem I have is that Mission Space and Test Track (as I recall) aren't even pavilions where you can explore the subject in an educational way. Like the other parks, they're just the ride and the shop. The ride and the shop. At least, that's how I remember Test Track. I didn't actually ride Mission Space, but it look to be that way too. I always loved the pavilion themes of FutureWorld... It was very "World's Fair," as the whole park was meant to be when it opened.

It was my understanding that Project Gemini was simply what they were calling the plans to refurbish the entire Future World section of the park (even, possibly) making Futureworld and World showcase separate parks, which sounds insane, but I'm not sure about that part. Are you saying it was a specific attraction? I know there were once plans to turn spaceship Earth into a coaster, with tracks coming out of the geosphere here and there. Hope that NEVER happens! Anyway, it was my understanding that, those plans for project Gemini (saw them once but don't remember them) amount to what is happening to EPCOT now, except we're seeing the changes a little at a time instead of all at once. Frankly, I recall not liking the plans very much, as they involved more of the kind of changes I have not been happy with, more focus on making the park less educational and more kid friendly, and even a complete name change for Future World (I forget to what). Maybe that name change confused some people into thinking it was going to be divided into two parks (probably folks who didn't realize it was already 2 sections). I can't imagine them trying to make two parks out of EPCOT. I don't think either section has enough to be its own theme park.

I agree that a Narnia ride would not have to tell one of the stories but could simply be a tour featuring characters from the stories. Another way to go, of course, is simply the ride having its own, original, very simple story. And, if I didn't mention it before (I know it crossed my mind) I agree that Animal Kingdom would be a good place for Narnia. Always wanted to see that Beastly Kingdom built.

Well, Mission:Space is kind of educational. It accuratley depicts what it would really take for humans to ever reach Mars and when you are done with the ride, there are stations set up with educational experiences in the form of virtual reality games and looking at charts of our solar system and potential others. It's kind of like a mini Innoventions. After that, you are lead through a gift shop before exiting. Test Track has some educational components to the line showing how these tests are done, but after the ride, it's a car show for GM and then a gift shop.

Project Gemini was kept very secretive. There were alot of speculations about what it actually was, but it wasn't the future plans for the whole of Future World. You're getting confused with "Discoveryland," a name that Disney registered and trademarked about a year ago. They were seriously thinking of changing the name of Future World to Discoverland and still keep it educational. All that I remember leaking about Project Gemini was that it would be inside of Spaceship Earth and would be a thrill ride. Many people were suspecting a coaster, but at the same time, WDI was patenting a new ride system and it was heavily rumored that this ride system was to be utilized in Gemini. After discovering that you can't remove the track of Spaceship Earth, Gemini lay dormant. However, Disney is planning on removing the Wonders of Life pavilion and have let it leak that they plan to put a thirll ride in. A lot of people have put two and two together and so there is much speculation that Gemini will see the light of day by 2010 where the Wonders of Life pavilion currently stands. It may also be so massive in size that it will also occupy the space where Universe of Energy is now.

What is Midway Mania going to be about?

Have you ever been to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure? If you have you may have ridden the Spiderman ride. It is kind of like a fast paced dark ride in 3-D where you are quickly moving through a city and come to alley ways(giant screens) where you come face to face with many villains. You get thrown, you free fall (not really, but it feels like it), have fire shot at you, etc... It's a very neat ride and is one of the highlights of the park. Anyways, Disney is going to attempt to cash in on the success by making a similar ride called "Midway Mania." It's going to be like Spiderman with interaction, seeing as you will be given a gun and can shoot things. Kind of like Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. I've heard that Midway Mania is going to involve Pixar characters. In particular, the Incredibles, but possibly others as well. It is going to be where Who Wants to be A Millionaire was, and will also consume some of the soundstage next door which has been used as a Star Wars Weekend gift shop. lol.

I also agree Narnia would fit well in the Animal Kingdom, and would help draw even more guests there. I wouldn't mind if Camp Minnie Mickey became Narnia, because all that is there is the Lion King show and I'm sure that could be moved to Africa, where it is more fitting in my opinion. However, I can also see it being at MGM and Fantasyland, although it is pretty much confirmed that the only spot of land left in Fantasyland is going to be The Little Mermaid. I would almost rather see it in Animal Kingdom since MGM is heavily rumored to be getting an Indiana Jones ride within the next four years. Anyone notice how the stunt show has decreased in length by almost 20 minutes? The addition of the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt show has taken away the crowds Indian Jones used to get, so it is rumored that during an off season, the stunt show will close and a temple of sorts will be built there to house a ride similar to Disneyland's, but different. I'm excited for that.

I didn't know where else to put this and didn't want to start a new thread for it, but I just looked at what mouse surplus is currently selling on ebay and fans of the old EPCOT will be interested in seeing these. Way more expensive than I could ever afford, and where on earth would I put them? But still nead to see.

As far as Midway Mania goes, I really don't see why the hype. Yes, I agree the technology sounds simply awesome, but I don't now khow many "shooting rides" any Disney park needs, and seeing rumors that it's just going to be about Pixar makes me feel like Pixar's just doing it to advertise their character more, I mean, they're not even including Disney villains. Until the stupid idea is scrapped or completed and they'll use this technology for a future dark ride, I'll get excited.

Alot of people keep talking about their anxiety against Pixar being included in the parks, so this isn't targeted at any person in particular. But the thing everyone needs to considder is that every Pixar film has been a huge money maker for Disney. And what does Disney do with the big money makers? Attempt to incorporate them into the parks. Stitch was the last great thing to come out of Disney and you can find his influence in all of the parks, be it a ride or the character walking around or merchandise. Disney now owns Pixar and all of their characters, so why shouldn't they try to incorporate them? At the moment, there are 2 Pixar rides in the parks with 4 more on the way. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger spin is an extremely popular attraction in Tomorrowland and I hear that the Monster's Inc. ride at DCA is very popular and well done. So now EPCOT is getting a Nemo ride, Disneyland is getting a very different Nemo ride, and the Magic Kingdom is getting the Laugh Floor. There still hasn't been alot of information about Midway Mania, so it could mix Pixar and Disney characters together. Just because Disney is working on a lot of Pixar attractions doesn't mean that they aren't going to continue to adapt their vast library of films into rides. It's just been announced that they plan to do a Little Mermaid ride(or rides) at the Magic Kingdom. It isn't a Pixar take over or an overhaul. They are just being incorporated. I personally think it's kind of cool. And if Disney has another success of their own in the near future, I'm sure you will see it's influence in the parks. And it's not impossible that classic movies will be turned into a ride, because look at Splash Mountain. It was built and most people who ride it haven't seen the film.

Yeah, that's what I got about Project Gemini in everything I had read about it. I always read that that was the name for the big change of FutureWorld to Discoveryland, which also included Spaceship Earth becoming a thrill ride with coaster track actually coming out of the sphere here and there. Man, I'm glad they can't do anything to alter the structure of the geosphere, ha.

That's crazy about the auctions for those ride vehicles. Don't know what anyone would do with them though. I guess they could provide creative seating inside a home, but I doubt they'd be very comfortable after a while... I'd rather have characters and props like that...

The thing about PIXAR being added to the parks is this: It's not that everyone wants PIXAR kept out (though I'm sure some do). Personally, I have always seen the PIXAR characters as Disney characters, since they have always been Disney/PIXAR films (even if it's all PIXAR's work). It's just that, doing what looks good money-wise isn't always the best thing. Disney has a habit of doing overkill with pushing certain characters and films, so that the parks lose a bit of their charm. I remember being a bit disappointed when the Lion King came out, because the shops had nothing to buy but Lion King plushies. I mean, yeah, they had Mickey and the gang, but before the Lion King, there was a large variety of characters to choose from... That's just one example though. Anyway, what worries us about the PIXAR overhaul is they seem to not care where they put them. I mean, Monsters, Inc. has no place in Tomorrowland! I'm fine with the Buzz ride there! I love the Buzz ride, but Monsters, Inc? They don't fit in any of the Magic Kingdom lands, really. They'd HAVE to build a PIXAR land for them to fit! They just don't make sense there. Nemo is perfect for the Living Seas. That's okay. Keep them in places where they fit. Monsters Inc really would only fit in Disney Studios. Now, the biggest worry is the idea of the studios becoming Disney/PIXAR Studios. Frankly, we just don't want to see the park lose its classic movie theme, and we also don't want to feel like we're going to PIXAR-land, which is probably what it WILL feel like if they change the name and then have to back that name-change up. Again, they could build a PIXAR section of the Disney Studios park, but we're just concerned that they will continue to make that park a further hodge-podge than it already is. Frankly, I like the variety of that park, I feel it sticks with film and television, after all, but it's true, it could have better organization of its attractions. It was better organized in its early days, but as they changed and added stuff, they seemed to follow no real organization plan.

I think the bottom line is that we don't want to see overkill, which Disney DOES do sometimes, and we don't want to see things in inappropriate places, destroying the themes of certain lands or parks. Anything can be put in Disney Studios, though they should try to organize it. Animal Kingdom could host Nemo and A Bug's Life attractions. Magic Kingdom can host Star Command in Tomorrowland, and maybe even Incredibles stuff. They're KINDA futuristic. EPCOT could incorporate Cars into their Test Track attraction, A Bug's Life in "The Land," and Monsters Inc. in "Imagination." However, Figment should always be the star of Imagination, and if they ARE going to PIXARIZE EPCOT, they should also mix in some classic Disney characters as well. Though, I guess you could say that they roam World Showcase freely. I suppose Toy Story characters could be worked into EPCOT too, perhaps in a futuristic toys section. Heck, they could turn Spaceship Earth into a Buzz Lightyear of Star Command ride to blow the other one away if they wanted to, but how would it fit the educational theme of EPCOT (which I certainly don't want it to lose)? But, while a few of these ideas could work and be great, if they did them all, it would be OVERKILL! There's a great Bug's Life attraction at Animal Kingdom, a great Nemo attraction at EPCOT, and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command at the Magic Kingdom. I say, lose the Laugh Floor, or move it to Disney Studios. I recommend just adding the other PIXAR stuff to Disney Studios and EPCOT. Any film or TV show fits at the studios, and all of PIXAR's stuff could be well incorporated throughout "FutureWorld" of EPCOT with a little creative thinking. Just don't let them push out Figment!

By the way, I will miss the Indy Stunt show greatly. However, I will be happy as long as they put the Indy ride in its place! Always wanted to ride that! I'll be happy as long as there's some major Indy attraction in the park. One thing I love about that park is that it brings my favorite subjects together: Disney, Indy, Star Wars, and the Muppets. All it needs is Sailor Moon and Dark Shadows, ha.
