this edition is still on preorder. Does it mean that it is still available? Because it is supposed to be limited, right?
Maybe there are not so many people who want it...

It shouldn't be any more limited than it is in the rest of the world, but there is a chance considering Japan actually gets 2 versions of the DVD, one single disc, and this 2-disc editon. First press is almost always available to all who preorder and in some cases for a long time afterwards depending on the quantity of the pressing. But you never know...

In Japan last week, every shop that sold Disney DVDs had an advert for
Little Mermaid with the cardboard slipcase attached so you could touch n feel.
Its lovely and shiny and beautiful.
As fas as I could read, that was the only edition they were getting on October 4th, until the slipcase sells out I guess.
Even Disneysea & Disneyland had pre-orders going for the Slipcase
edition.
So i'd say its limited as in "first come first served" but since they'll make
like a billion I think you'll be right till about Christmas, which after that you'll be forced to get the ewwwwwww Cover Art release.

Well, I was in Japan when Cinderella Platinum Edition came out. They released a one-disc Special Edition; I think it had the US cover art. Then there was the 2-disc Platinum Edition. The DVD case had the same cover art as the US version, however, it came in a special sparkling box like a slipcover, except it was hard and only had an opening on the right to put in the DVD case. This had unique artwork - it had the slipper on it; on the background was the castle.
I'm guessing the cover art we've seen for TLM is for the special box, and perhaps the actual art for the DVD case will be the same as the R1 version.
By the way, this cover art is the same as the poster for the 1997 theatre re-release, right?

Sailor Eric: This has already been confirmed as someone in the R1-forum took pictures of it, there's a link somewhere in the TLM-thread. Slipcase with the gorgeus artwork on containing a keepcase with the regular one inside. Not that I'm complaining. I love slipcases.

Wow! The slip case is so pretty! Such high quality! I really love this edition! I was glad to see the artwork on the disc is full color instead of the transparent version we got here. Does anyone know if this is the 1989 dub or the newer one? Either way I enjoyed it greatly and I recommend everyone to get the Japanese release!

Could anyone who owns this edition post a picture of it? I'd love to see what it really looks like.

It sorta spoiled the surprise when we saw & got to touch it in Japan,
But its much nicer to have in your own collection.
So without further ado,
here's the Japanese Slipcase for Dottie to look at....
They were taken on my N80, which ended up clearer than my actual
Digital Camera, which is a bit depressing. Phones are cool.

The Front Cover

The Back Cover

And an Ad for the Peter Pan Platinum Edition out in March 2007[/img]
Enjoy

HappyPug, since Japan got full-color character artwork on
their discs, but we didn't get that in the U.S., could you also post a picture or two of the disc artwork, or any artwork that's different from that of the other versions. And...
HappyPug wrote:My Japanese copy has about 4 little booklets all about Little Mermaid, Cars, Cinderella 3, Peter Pan and random toys.
So, could you please also scan or take pictures of whatever you had for The Little Mermaid, Cinderella 3, and Peter Pan? I guess you might as well post pictures of everything, but I'm most interested in those if no one else in interested in anything else.
