Obviously it's a "family friendly" trilogy in Europe.

But why do they think familys are so dumb? The 3 isn't a sequel so they can't even create a trilogy! Oh man, I really wish I would live in America now

But I really hope this movie is going to break trough. I saw that is has great animation, I just hope Pumbaa isn't skinny like in Simba's Pride. WHen I saw him standing there, looking at the young Kiara I really thought it was another warthog (no kidding). I only knew it was him when I heard his voice. And Simba was like wearing make-up

Well, it could be a sequel - of sorts. Like Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, it's going to need some sort of framing device to explain the timesetting.
So I think it's accepted it will be told sometime after The Lion King in flashback. They can't just open before the start of the Lion King without some explanation.
The question is, will this wrap around sequence be inbetween 1 and 2, or after 2?

Well in the trailer Timon says "Oh no Pumbaa, we're going waaay back, BEFORE the beginning" so I guess it's before and a little bit while TLK, before Simba actually met Timon and Pumbaa. When I heard the title of this movie, I kind of expected a real 1 1/2 movie with them explaining what happened between TLK and Simba's Pride. Because I'm not so sure about those outlanders yet, I mean, they just rush into that in Simba's Pride and you have no idea what and who they are. Ok, you'll get it anyway but it's not easy in the beginning.
