I learned my lesson from Homer at Itchy and Scratchy land.

Tip #17 Don't eat right before you go on rides like Star Tours
Listen to memnv - all very good advice esp. about not eating before Star Tours (take it from a person who made that mistake once!)

Well I am here. It's the penultimate Disneyland day. We're going to Seaworld tomorrow, then Universal the next, and Saturday will complete the vacation with early entry to DL.

Thank you all for the tips and well wishes :)

Just to mention a few things:

- Loomis: Initially I didn't quite understand what was so magical about these rides and the area, but after the first night I began to understand. The crowd in Haunted Mansion all proudly stated the initial scare script and all screamed in unison in the elevator... the jolly middle-aged man with his kids producing the same hand movements as Mickey at the end of Fantasmic... Disneyland is really a one-of-a-kind place. And by the second day, since I had covered all the major rides in day one, I enjoyed some of those more quaint Disneyland moments like window-shopping, listening to the great bands, and even some people watching.

-Timon/Pumbaa fan & memnv: In regards to FastPasses; Star Tours actually does not have a FP system in place. I was amazed, but the lines aren't actually very long for it.

Disneyland seems to be Pirate crazy at the moment; so many people have Pirate Mouse Ears or these Captain Jack hair braided caps. And the lines for Pirates are just insane. I read about it usually only going to the door; well for me it's almost always down the looped stairs and thru a long roped queue right to under the bridge. I've only gone on whilst Fantasmic was showing with about a 10 minute wait.

Btw, the new Pirates, with integrated CJack storyline doesn't quite fit. It's very weird. Like Davy Jones is at the start saying we're all cursed cause CJ is hiding, then there's a pirate battle with the POTC sountrack in the background and they're fighting over CJ, but then the rest of it is all just the old ride with Pirate town and the "Pirates life for me" song. I'm not sure if that quite made sense, but the new ride is.. interesting.

Oh, and Haunted Mansion doesn't have FP either, but has the system in place.

There's plenty more to say, but I best be off back to the park. I've tried to post pictures, but it takes a lot of time to do; new ones are always going up here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/paradigm4/ ... 239012540/

Wow, this is exciting to hear from you at the park! I checked out the photos. I can't believe they took your mom's can opener. What would it cost them to have re-usable bags with labels to put something like that in and tell you that you can pick it up later at will call or something? Oh well, I am sure they have their reasons.... TWDC hires people who have backgrounds like in the CIA, FBI etc. to survey developing terror threat news around the world and to liason with national security officials on stuff like that and how to best protect the parks... you can imagine what a big target WDW or DL would be. I guess they have their reasons for taking can openers and not giving them back...

BTW what hotel did you stay at and where did you stay in Los Angeles or have you not gotten to there yet?
