Does anyone know if there's truth to the rumor that we'll be seeing a re-release of Peter Pan and Robin Hood next year. I think Robin Hood has already been confirmed but I'm not sure about Peter Pan.
Hey Prince Ali, welcome to the website.
The best kept secret at this website is that the greatest wealth of information on Disney DVDs is
outside of the forum. Any time there is news about a Disney DVD it is announced at the home page:
www.ultimatedisney.com. If you are interested in the release schedule you can find it here at
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/comingsoon.html This website is well maintained and these resources will always give you the most current and most accurate information. If you want to know if there is truth to your statements then check out these links.
The Gold Version of Robin Hood
is back in the vault. When a Disney film is put in the vault that simply means it is out of print. There is no recall of items. Therefore, there are copies of Robin Hood around but there will be no additional copies shipped from Disney's warehouses.

There are no previously used supplemental materials for 101 Dalmatians available, as far as I remember.

Yeah, so Disney will have to put a lot of things together before it's release, which we think is next Febuary

You know, I just realized a major incentive for Disney to release TJB in October of next year. The Jungle Book was first shown in theaters on October 18th 1967. By the time The Jungle Book comes out on its amazing, brand new Platinum Edition, TJB will have turned 40 years old. So, maybe TJB will follow in LatT's footsteps, and Disney will release a "Jungle Book 40th Anniversary Edition." Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised. Disney has been releasing so many "______ Edition"'s that i'm ready to just crawl in a hole. (I'm fine and happy with a simple "special edition").
What do you guys think?
Personally, I hope that they release The Jungle Book first, simply because i've been waiting for a home video release forever. (TJB is one of three of my all-time favorite Disney movies EVER, and yet, it is the ONLY one of the three I have never owned in any form (DVD or VHS)). Now don't get me wrong, 101 Dalmatians is also an amazing movie, and I am also very excited about that release, being that I only have the crummy "Black Diamond/ Classic" VHS edition, but The Jungle Book is so much more special to me!
But hey, that's just my 2 cents, and I think either way, I can't change what Disney will release first.

Wrong, there was a trailer on the LI DVD. And I would laugh if it is not included in the PE (and I would almost bet it won't).

I'm willing to bet that it will. Disney's good about putting trailers on their Platinums (except The Lion King, but they seemed to be on something during that release in general...). Even with the trailer already used as a supplement before, Disney still has to create the bonus material from scratch like they did with Lady and the Tramp. They have no extensive laserdisc release to fall back on like they did with Snow White and Cinderella.

I can't wait for this DVD. It's one of my alltime favorite Disney movies. I'm hoping for extensive behind the scenes material and a grea transfer.

Which is coming out First? The Jungle Book or 101 Dalmatians?
Ultimatedisney.com says 101 Dalmatians comes out first, whilst disney-dreams.net says The Jungle Book is coming out sooner.
I'd rather 101 Dalmatians to be released before The Jungle Book...actually I'd rather them both to still be on our shelves!

We're pretty sure that
Dalmatians will come out in Febuary, where as
Jungle Book will come out in October

We're also supposed to be getting a Peter Pan release in the US next year...but not in the Platinum Edition line. Even though I'm looking forward to 101 Dalmatians, I'm more excited for Peter Pan. I'm surprised that it won't be getting a Platinum Edition release. It's more popular than 101 Dalmatians and The Jungle Book, isn't it?

Peter Pan is coming out in the prestigious Platinum Edition line. Either in 2008 or 2009

Are you sure? Because rumor has it that we'll be getting some sort of other edition for Peter Pan in 2007...at least that's what I read on the upcoming releases.

Peter Pan is definately lined up to be a Platinum Edition. There are 14 of Disney's greatest Movies in the Platinum Range, and Peter Pan is definately one of them.
Here's the Entire List:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Beauty and the Beast
The Lion King
Aladdin
Bambi
Cinderella
Lady and the Tramp
The Little Mermaid
101 Dalmatians
The Jungle Book
Peter Pan
Pinocchio
Sleeping Beauty
Fantasia
If you go to this link you can see all the Platinum Editions, when they were released and the expected releases.

Actually, we don't know if next year's Peter Pan release will be officially considered to be a Platinum Edition. Even though in 2003 Disney said they were adding it to the Platinum Collection, sources have been saying that release will be called a "Special Edition." Now, we don't know if this means a Special Edition sub-label in addition to the Platinum one (which has been going on since Beauty and the Beast) or just a simple Special Edition label like with Mulan. Worse yet, for all we know, the Special Edition label could mean something like last year's Tarzan release and just be a single disc edition. It's really up in the air at this point, and we won't know anything for sure until we get some cover art towards the end of the year.

Could you link me to the sources stating it will be released next year please?
I remember reading somewhere months ago, before Lady and the Tramp was even released, and most people were exited about the news of the release of The Little Mermaid, and it said Feb 2007- 101 Dalmatians, Oct 2007- Peter Pan.
Now the October 2007 release is set to be The Jungle Book.
I always thought Peter Pan was deserving to have the Royal treatment of 'The Platinum Edition'. That's why I just can't see it being released in a Simple 'Special Edition', so if someone could send me the details of Peter Pan release please?
Thanks!

Scroll to #43, it's listed as coming out Spring 2007 right around the same time as 101 Dalmations so unless they move it, Peter Pan is not going to be a Platinum.
