Just the title of this topic is worthy of a facepalm.

Seriously, why is Hollywood suddenly so obsessed with releasing every big-budget film in 3D? It is getting very tiresome, and most of the films that are released in 3D are not worth the price of admission.

Just look at Avatar. The highest-grossing film of all time and at a time where less and less people were going to the theater. Why? Because of 3D. You cannot pirate a 3D movie. You cannot replicate it perfectly at home, so there is no point in waiting for the home video release.
