I agree... You know, I've always remarked to people that in Hairspray, Amber's taste in songs was better than Tracy's. Although I often forget what songs Tracy ever chose on the show, Amber's "The Roach" and "Shake a Tail Feather" were superior to Tracy's "The Bug," and... didn't she pick "Duke of Earl"? I always found that one to be overrated, myself.jeremy88 wrote:"Squish, Squash, kill that roach!" <----Favorite Song from the 1988 Hairspray.
Anywho, I got to see the movie last night in an advanced screening, and I must say, it was a lot of fun! Me, being the musical whore that I am, was gonna see this no matter what. Before I saw it, I was kinda iffy about it, but now that I've seen it, I can say it went above and beyond my expectations. I'm sure the rest of you will enjoy it!!
Yeah, I can't decide which is my favorite song, "Shake a Tail Feather" or "I'm Blue." The "Duke of Earl" was, I think, during the scene where Penny runs to Tracy's house to make Edna and the father watch Tracy's first appearence on Corny Collins.jeremy88 wrote:Amber does have a better taste in songs, I mean c'mon now, Tracy dancing to song about killing bugs? But thats why I love it lol "The Roach" is much more upbeat then "The Bug" I think, and then she comes out in that hilarious roach dress haha, I actually don't remember the Duke of Earl. But yeah I think Amber's songs are more serious and the best for the compition, but Tracy's are funny lol.
Another song I like is the gong gong im blue song haha.
Just to let everyone know, I'm the most gullable person I know. Are you kidding, or did you really meet Zac Efron?!?!?!?!skyler888 wrote: I got to see the priemere too!

Yup, they're all in there!Chernabog_Rocks wrote:Without Love, You Can't Stop The Beat (which I LOVE), It Takes Two. I hope this new version has those songs, and makes more sense
Skyler could have easily kidnapped the real thing and took his place!blackcauldron85 wrote:Just to let everyone know, I'm the most gullable person I know. Are you kidding, or did you really meet Zac Efron?!?!?!?!skyler888 wrote: I got to see the priemere too!

I was waiting for someone to say that. Anyway, that's what makes it great. Because John Waters is a twisted, imaginative, and original filmmaker. He also sees himself as something of a cinematic trash-master. So when I heard they were making a musical out of it, I was not happy. I still think he got screwed. I hope those jerks are paying him for every single show that thing puts on. They need to know that without him, this whole phenomenon wouldn't be happening. Not that I think that means anyone should be forced to endure an episode of 'Til Death Do Us Part... but, I feel like this new Hairspray is just another way of stealing something from the creator and changing it into something more mainstream because the people with the money to do it want to make it into something they can approve of.Chernabog_Rocks wrote:I've seen parts of the original, and it was just weird for me.
