And, come on, they ARE sequels. Mini sequels, indeed. So, what? They're still sequels.
Disney Princess Enchanted Tales episodes are not sequels unless you consider the episodes of Disney's
Aladdin television series to be sequels.
As for where they will be animated, we don't actually know if the
Disney Princess Enchanted Tales episodes are being made at Disney Toon Studios or not. And if they are, after Disney Toon Studios closes the
Disney Princess Enchanted Tales animation will probably just be out-sourced somewhere, most likely to Manilla in the Phillipines.

That's exactly what I was going to say lol. I think that to keep the money flowing we will see more DTV's simmiliar to
Disney Princess: Enchanted Tales with characters like the fairies and heroes and other new franchises. They will not be sequels but just videos to keep Disney raking in the cash.

Here's a relevant excerpt from an article published in this week's VB (Video Business) magazine:
<img src="
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/images/d-f/DTVs.jpg">
It seems to confirm that neither DisneyToon Studios nor DTVs are going away anytime soon. If this report is correct (and quoting the DTS president suggests that it is), both will undergo a slight shift in focus, though. So don't expect 4s and 5s. Though 3 seems to be fair game, at least twice next year.
I'm not sure if Lasseter has enough power to simply do away with the DTV division, but if he can encourage them to move away from mediocre retreads, then good for him. Of course, much of the recent DTV output has shown significant improvement without any external help.

so...should we celebrate or eagerly wait for Pinochio 2, Bambi 2002 reloaded, The lion King 478/975 and other sequels before this become truth?

They continue the princesses' stories, so they ARE sequels. They're not going to be aired as tv episodes, so they can't be compared to the Aladdin Series. If you remember, Cinderella II was considered to be a sequel, even though it was actually 3 diferrent stories.
And something else; Aurora's story is the only Sleeping Beauty animated feature ever done after the original and we don't know if there will be other Aurora stories to make it a "series". So, to me, these stories are sequels for sure.

A slight shift in focus? What could that mean? Less sequels? I don't think that I would ever expect a 4 or 5, though. I don't think that many people would. 2 sequels are enough for me!

I think in order for them to be official sequels, they have to be full-length like the original movies. The
Disney Princess Enchnated Tales aren't movies, they're episodes/shorts. And actually,
Cinderella II was actually made out of stories that were
meant to be television episodes:
"More often though, in films like Tarzan and Jane or the abandoned series Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Atlantis: Milo’s Return, a trio of unrelated TV episodes are simply linked by a few original scenes."
You can read that quote here:
http://mag.awn.com/index.php?ltype=page ... 439&page=3
I wouldn't call them sequels unless they were full-length features. They sort of cheated and turned short epsiodes into a full-length movie to make a sequel, so it was the length of the film that made it a sequel.

That's the point where I disagree with you; I don't think it's the length that makes it a sequel. I think that it has to do wether it is a complete tv series or not. Aurora's episode, since it's the one and only-for the time being- new Sleeping Beauty animated feature, it's a short sequel to me. If it becomes something like; The Sleeping Beauty TVSeries, it won't be a sequel any more, but a tv episode. The fact that in the same disc will be a Belle Story too does not mean anything to me. It's like putting together, let's say, Return to Neverland and Bambi II. Of course, this is just how I see it.

Well, that's fair enough. I still think it
is the length that matters, but you and I aren't going to change our minds so I'll just let it go. We'll have to wait and see what stories future volumes of
Disney Princess Enchanted Tales bring!
And by the way, did anyone notice that in that snippet of the Video Business article Luke posted, it said that Disney Toon Studios would be making "a
prequel to
The Little Mermaid"? That gives us fans of the idea for a prequel explaining the past of Ursula and King Triton hope! And now I'm confused, because this seems to mean Disney Toon Studios won't be shutting down...

The full quote is, "Next year, the studio will release
Cinderella 3 as part of its princess franchise, along with a prequel to
The Little Mermaid".
It says so right in this:

You have to read the
whole thing, okay? It's written in there. If you can't read the small print...I can't help you with that, sorry.

I am confused because Disney said that they would be shutting down Disney Toon Studios after
Cinderella III and the Tinkerbell movie. So Disney Toon Studios can't make
The Little Mermaid III after they've been shut down! Now this article seems to say that Disney Toon Studios
is making
The Little Mermaid III.

Well, since Disney Toon Studios has already started on TLM III, I'm pretty sure that they will finish the movie. And besides TLM III, and C III are coming out the same year, 2007, so they could be coming out near each other.

Isn't Bambi II (the name should have stayed Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest, it's so much better than sticking a II on the end) a midquel, TheLittleMerman.

I agree. The name change totally sucks and is SOOO misleading. Tarzan II is a midquel as well. I guess they thought it was OKAY to do that since the
Lion King 1 1/2 (which seems a little unreasonable since it takes place during the Lion King and not between TLK 1 and TLK 2: SP) was called
The Lion King III: Hakuna Matata, internationally.
Anyhow, I like the idea of TLM III prequel. I can't see what more they can do with Melody and Ariel...another Teen pregnancy? Ariel would probably the youngest grandmother in the history of Disney grandmothers. I like the ideas posted in that old TLM III thread. I hope that's what it will be. Gah, I'm gonna jinx it because it'll probably be about child Ariel growing into a Teenager with her older sisters. H/o actually that's not a bad idea...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Yeah,
Tarzan II could have been something like
Tarzan and the Zugor Story, or something else like that. Now
The Lion King III: Hakuna Matata doesn't really make sense, so TLK 1 1/2 makes more sense, I guess. Actually, since this movie was nowhere near TLK II: SP, I think that TLK 1 1/2, should have been more like TLK 1 1/4, but I guess that's just me.

Hm, now that I think about it again, I am concerned that it's gonna be a prequel. I mean, can you imagine a whole movie with an 8-year old Ariel? I really love Ariel, BUT another BABY MOVIE (like Bambi and Tarzan) it's like...EEEWWWWW!!!!

That's why I many times have said that, it would be better if it was a movie with the teenage Ariel that we all love (maybe during her marriage or something), and it would be nice if they had a flashback with Ariel's childhood, explaining everything about her mom and Ursula, something like a dream or a narration by King Triton. That's what I would do if I was the director. OH! And I would call Glen Keane back to animate Ariel, of course!!!
