I plain old think the story should always end with the last theatrically released version of the movie / story / series. When they try to extend it, especially via this very cheap method, they cheat and it's not right. Not really. But I understand why they're around. Great for kids whose parents don't know what else to give them to watch. Parents apparently have too much money. My parents didn't buy me a bunch of videos to shut me up (except on Christmas) like the parents of today do. And all those Nickelodeon and Disney show compilation videos are just like these direct-to-video sequels. Now I know you respect my position, but can't you see this similarity. People feel like they can't accept the original the way it was? Can't you possibly make up a more interesting sequel in your mind? I know I can. How many sequels like Bambi II and Cinderella II and so on are made by any of the same people who made the original? It's like trying to paint a sequel to the Mona Lisa or scult a sequel to David or clone a sequel to George Washington or give birth to a sequel of Elvis Presley. This is not a side of Disney that makes them look good.

I think Lazario means 'sculpt' but just made a typo.

What are your opinions on this movie? 'Cause I found out that most of the people on a french Disney site hated Pocahontas II.

It's not one of my favorite DTV sequels but I kinda liked it...sort of. It's because it doesn't bring up its pure Disney magic unlike Pocahontas. It's kinda disappointing that she didn't end up marrying John Smith, although in real life, she's wed to John Rolfe. They shouldn't have made Pocahontas and John Smith fall in love in the first place! Anyway, the film is just mediocre at its best. It lacks the powerful songs that its predecessor have. Overall, if this will be released in Special Edition...I will not buy it.

Just a quick note for anyone who hasn't seen it (or would like to watch it again for free), the Disney channel will be airing it tomorrow, Monday, July 17th at 10:30am (Pacific).

Maybe, in 2 years, Disney will re-release this movie in an anamorphic widescreen version for it's 10th Anniversary. I sure would love to buy that. That way, it would go great with the 10th AE of the original, and they could have somewhat matching covers. :D

Honestly, while I didnt hate Pocahontas II, there are other films that are much more worthy of a 2 disc upgrade. I would love to see Oliver and Company, The Aristocats, Hercules, and The Great Mouse Detective get an upgrade before the sequels start. Also, the transfer to the Blue-Ray format may mean the bypassing of Special Editions for most of the titles.

Well I didn't hate this, but I didn't love it either. I was dissapointed that the brought up the other love interest and made it more of a triangle.

Some of the songs were nice though. I have the Gold Collection version of this, but I'd love a Special Edition to go along with the original movie's edition.
