Will Disney release some of its successful animated classics in CGI or 3D Versions? That would be pretty cool just like this one.

This sounds cool. Even though I haven't even seen this movie, it sounds good.

How are they going to transform the film to 3D?
Shouldn't it have been filmed that way in the first place to make it work properly?

No it shouldn't have, Tim Burton meant for it to be made the way it was, but now he has an opportunity to have re-presented in a different form and is doing it. Although I do think a lot of NBC fans will love it I equally think some will hate it because the film was special because of the way it was made the first time!

That's not what I meant at all.
I was merely wondering how it is technically possible to do a satisfactory 3D print of a film that wasn't filmed in 3D in the first place. How is it done?

I have no idea how it is done... it is a good question... maybe they are going to use pixars technique...

A little late with this news posted on the main page. We've had this thread for a week now.

Amazing idea! For a few minutes, I thought that they were turning the "The Nightmare Before Christmas" computer-animated! All I read was "Chicken Little" on the UD homepage and thought "...."

Nice poster. I'd have to wait to hear how good it is in 3-D before I would go though.

Id like to see this but i dont really know how i feel about it. It's obviously a way to make money but the NBC fan in me says, "yes yes do it!!"
Is there a list of theaters...

Does anyone know if there is a list of theaters that will be playing this special 3-D version of The Nightmare Before Christmas? Or perhaps a site that has a list of the theaters and locations?

Yeah, for a 3-D film to work properly, two separate viewpoints must be created (one separate image for each eye) so normally two cameras would be used simultaniously. With CGI it's a different story, all they have to do is go back and create a "camera" from a separate viewpoint. I'm curious as to how they are going to replicate that here. . . I can only assume they have a way to manipulate the images with computer technology.
Regardless, I love this movie! Now that we have an IMAX close by I'm really excited!!!

Who said IMAX? Disney Digital 3-D is in H-D theaters but not the IMAX ones.

Yay! That poster gets me really excited! This re-release should do well at the Box-Office. TNBC has created a tremendous cult fan-base over the years.

Boxofficemojo.com will have the number of theaters playing this about a week before it comes out but you'll have to check your local paper to see if it'll be by you.

Note how that poster says "Walt Disney Pictures Presents"
Because that would support the rumor I've heard of Nightmare being released with the Disney opening logo, rather than Touchstone under wich it was initially released back in 1993.
