Can you ring Disney customer services and get one? I remember around 18 months ago, people were complaining about not having a coupon book in the DVD gift set of
Aladdin, and a reply was that they could phone Disney for one. That could be a way to go.
On the topic of the Platinums becoming mediocre, I have to disagree a bit. I think all of the discs have flaws. Yes, including
Snow White; whilst it was generally good, there were a few TV specials that could have featured, and the menus could have been a little less tedious.
In all honesty, they are dead in a way now as there have been animated classics with two discs packaged in a similar way, making the Platinums seem more generic and making their name useless at that (not to mention that "Special Edition" is often attatched to platinum titles). Plus, some of these two disc special editions are better than the "platinum editions". Compare the multidisc sets of
Tron, Tarzan, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, Mulan, The Fantasia Anthology, Alice in Wonderland, the Vault Disney sets and the Pixar titles to some of the sets in the Platinum collection. I think that all of these at least beat one of the seven sets made available.
And as long as the material on the disc doesn't suffer too much (and what I mean is questionable restoration such as what happened with the 2005 Treasures), I'm cool. Things like unopenable slip covers and extra long DVD guides are cool, yet they're definetely more a "want" than a "need", says I.

ITA. Many often say that the Fantasia Anthology is the first "unofficial" Platinum title, while Pocahontas is perhaps one of the best two-discs Disney has to offer.

Especially when all the information AND MORE from the DVD guide can be found
right here
I never cared much for Disney DVD Insider, so it's not a big deal if my set doesn't come with one.

Don't forget the
Ultimate Toy Box and the 2-disc Collector's Edition releases of
Atlantis,
Dinosaur &
The Emperor's New Groove. IMO, they all outstripped any Platinum title in terms of bonus features, and even transfer quality (though admittedly, all those movies are newer than any in the Platinum line).

The one distinctive feature about the "Platinum Editions" is the fact that they are intended to be available for a limited time only. Nothing more "special" about them than the other "Special Editions" - they just say "buy it NOW - not later".

I got mine at Sam's Club last night and although I haven't opened it yet, peering down the end of the longbox I am sure it has a slip cover. Actually, the slip cover caused me to have to make a decision. L&T was priced at approx. $18.50 with the slip cover, but right next to it was an edition without a slip cover for $19.99. This edition also included "Gus" starring Don Knotts as a bonus disc.
After some pondering, I took the single package with the slip cover.

Well, other 2 disc sets, such as Tarzan and Alice in Wonderland have been advertised as Limited Time only. Really, to me, there is no difference.

Oh, don't worry; I've not forgotten them. When I said the Pixar titles, I pretty much included the UTB, and I haven't seen the sets for
Dinosaur and
Atlantis, so I couldn't really put them on the list even though I am aware of the quality. As for
The Emperor's New Groove, I have the Collector's Edition, yet aside from the trailer, I haven't seen any of the bonus material yet, so I also can't judge.

Musicradio, think about it, you're on a Disney fan forum. Did you seriously think that we didn't know any of this?

The opening flap is gone, the DVD Guide is now just a page where it used to be numerous, the adds are gone, the Disney DVD Guide is gone, the new cheep art, and much more are really dissapointing. It is really turning into a childs game now with the kiddie fast play..never has that been on a Platinum Edition. Disney has really lost site in what matters in a Platinum Edition.
Personally, I don't consider such unimportant features like the "book-slipcover", the DVD Guide's length, or disc art as evidence to say that the Platinum line has decreased in quality. I do agree with you though, that the Platinums nowadays are just above "Special Edition" quality, while nowhere near the quality of the Collector's/Masterpiece editions of other films. Perhaps it's because Disney feels rushed since they have to release two Platinums a year now. I'm hoping
The Little Mermaid can revive the PE's reputation, since
Aladdin's release gave me hope for the modern films in the PE collection.

Well, good bonus material should at least be easier to come by for
The Little Mermaid, as it's a relatively recent film. Hopefully Disney will take advantage of that... though, based on past experience, I wouldn't bet greatly on it.

I think that what is happening is that Disney is making the Platinum Edition worse, so maybe they don't care about it...

I agree with you because they had enough time to prepare this release and a lot of people is waiting for it so they HAVE TO make a great release for this movie and if they don't I'm going to be very angry

The FastPlay feature hasn't really bothered me. I just select Main Menu and go from there. 9 out of 10 times I skip the previews anyway. I wished they could get rid of them personally and just go to the Main Menu for every DVD.

One last thing:
Isn't it funny that before we just had 1 PE for a whole year, and now we have 4 at the same time?

But what's the problem with the fast play option I mean why don't you just select menu and then play movie?
