Will someone who has received their gift set please post the name of the book that is enclosed? Perhaps also the author of the book? Is it a "making of" book or just a rehash of the story?
Thanks-
Leesa

I just preordered the Collector's Gift set of DisneyStore catalog Via Disneystore.com. it's $39.99 plus the 4 lithos. it all came out to $43.00 with tax and FREE SHIPPING! woo hoo! use code: 4wmar to get free shipping!

Hmm, that's a really good idea, MMB. Especially if no one is going to beat $39.99. Only because it's free shipping, and Disney's shipping is normally outrageous. Plus it'd be nice to get the lithos.
But would they still ship it in time to be here next week if the order isn't placed til now. Hmm. Decisions, decisions.

Just to add to Luke's info, the name of the book is "The Journey". I don't think a specific author is listed on the book - I don't see it on the spine or cover.

MMB, that coupon code doesn't work. Well, I'm not paying $7.95 shipping, so I guess it will be no lithos and buy at BB or CC.

Luke, that code only works if you call and place your order by phone. The website will not accept it.

Ah, that explains it. Thanks for the info.

No problem. There was an online code for 10% off: VILLIANS, I don't know if it will still work though.

Yeah, I tried that earlier and it alternated between not recognizing the code and taking off just $3. (And it's funny they spelled VILLAINS wrong.

) I guess I'll just buy it someplace on Tuesday and not have to worry about a wait to receive, or going through their phone system.
Thanks for the help, anyway!

Anytime. I did the phone thing with that free shipping code and my Disney Club card discount so I got the gift set and the 4 free lithos for $38.15. I don't have much money left, but this is a must have! And that is funny about the mispelled code.

Luke wrote:The negative side is that BestBuy is going to have the Gift Set priced very unattractively at $39.99 (well over double the price of just the Platinum release which is $15.99). Plus there's a free calendar and mousepad for Lion King, but I doubt you get those if you get the Gift Set.
And I'd love a Lion King calendar, too, but I imagine it would be cheap like my Back to the Future wristwatch from Best Buy.

It appears that the mousepad has an October month calendar on it in addition to a picture of adult Simba. The advertisment shows the price of the collector's gift set to be $39.
I hope I can get the mousepad/calendar with the gift set too.

First impressions....
The gift set is a very impressive box, it will look amazing on your Animated Classics shelf! The Disney Store lithographs are good as usual, if you ever got them with any other movie preorder, you know exactly what I mean. The hardback book is nice, lots of pictures, some text, some sketches, a lil info on the Broadway show with some photos. Lastly is the Character Sketches. These are nice and a unique extra ... they were advertised as though they were actually signed by the artists. The originals were, but the signatures are just printed on the cards like the pictures were. Not a big deal, but I was hoping that they would be hand signed sketches.
I am about to put the disc into the player now. As far as the packaging goes, they definitely get an A+, very nice! I know the content won't be as extravagant as the LD box set, so I won't be as disappointed as some might be with the extras. Still want to check them out anyway.

The Lion King 1.5 trailer is a total riot! Watch it, I'd buy that disc based on that preview alone, very funny!

Mousepad/Calendar....

The mousepad/calendar is quite nice. it has 14 months (14 separate calendar sheets with pictures from the movie and of the main characters). can be used both as a calendar (put up on the wall) or as a mousepad.

Arg, I'm pissed off.
OK, so I was planning on going to Best Buy after school to pick it up. But my mom said it would be easier to take me there before school (I don't have a car of my own yet). The only store open that early was Target.
So we end up going there to pick it up for 15.99 On the DVD packaging, there is a sticker for a free 2-liter bottle of Dr. Pepper you can redeem at the register. I thought the sticker would come off fine, but when the casheer peeled it off, it left this huge sticky mark on the cardboard slipcase of the DVD. I got really upset, because I'm kind of anal about keeping all my cases in as best condition as they can be.
So when we leave the store, for whatever reason, the DVD keeps sending the security alarms off. The security officer took the DVD back to the register to scan it again so I could take it out of the store without the alarms blaring. She slammed the case down and caused several nicks on it.
I'm at school now, very angry that my case looks so awful. Granted, its only the slipcase, but I'm still pissed off. I'm going to return the DVD after school and get another at Best Buy. So mad right now.
