Even though Bambi didn't put me off meat, after I saw the Little Mermaid it certainly put me off fish! :frog:
Agreed! I eat next to no seafood because of TLM, and the thought of eating flounder or crab makes me cringe. Finding Nemo sort of reaffirmed this...fish ARE friends, not food!
I have always felt that - I never eat fish. I am so weird that I think "fishing" is cruel.... I was a fish hobbyist some years ago (just like the dentist in "Finding Nemo") I had fresh water tanks and then worked my way up to a reef tank. Then I got sick with depression and "realized" I was "playing God" with the fish in my tank and I disassembled the tank, gave away like $300 worth of technical books on fish keeping and sold all the equipment and gave the fish to the store.... now I sort of regret it, but it is a big responsibility to manage a salt water reef tank (when it is only 10 gallons!) - and with school and work what it is these days, there's no way I could keep on top of it anyway. Plus it was always a surprise - you never knew just what you might find in your tank or what disaster might befall you or the fish.... you have to mix salt water every week, and monitor PH etc.... I digress....

It was just amazing all the stuff that was in Finding Nemo that these guys who wrote that film had researched or already knew about fish keeping. I really appreciated the touches like when they tried to clog the filter and I knew how nasty it would get.... where did I see that they had actually gone scuba diving to see the fish and learn about them? Maybe that was a special feature on the DVD, I can't remember.

They wouldn't be dead, they wouldn't even be bred if everyone stopped eating them.
I had at one time been a wildlife biology major but I had to drop out when I realized that I would not be able to do something like culling a herd to save the rest, etc. I could do relocation only, but that might not be my decision to make. So I changed my major and then eventually dropped out completely out of the environmental field. (I ended up getting my master's in urban geography).

At the risk of offending any UD hunters, I have to agree - I think it is absolute barbary to be killing innocent creatures like this... but that is my personal opinion and I realize not shared by many in the "mainsteam". I never ate fish and never will. I wish I could be so noble as to give up all meat but I have not been able to do that unfortunately.

I think Bambi had a very powerful environmental message - it is even more astonishing when you think that the movie was made and released back in the 40s when there was not such a strong anti-hunting ethic as there is today.

I don't think anything flim will turn me into a vegetarian. Not even Bambi. But that's mainly because Bambi didn't show any cows, pigs, nor chickens. I don't think I'll eat deer, skunk, or rabbit anytime soon though. I eat meat mainly becuase: A)It's heathly for someone who's growing like me and B)It's just so good. I do feel bad for those poor animals who are slaughtered every year just for our food. This is partly why I promised myself never to wear real fur.

I really don't find myself crazy over sushi. About a year ago, I was crazy over it. Every day I was eating Sushi for lunch. Then one day, I was eating it and all of the sudden, I felt sick to my stomach. I looked down at it and I say to myself, I don't think I'll ever eat Sushi again. Since then, evertime I smell sushi, I kinda get nauseous of gag a little. I don't know. Sushi doesn't look so appealing to me anymore.

Okay, I know all TLM lovers are going to go to my house with flamming torch sticks after I type this but I LOVE SEAFOOD! I think it might be my favorite food right now. Either that or pasta. I love salmon and fried calamari. God, this is making hungry as I'm typing this. It's not that I don't like Flounder or Sebastian. I really do love them. It's just that everytime I eat fish, I just don't think I'm eating them. Maybe it's the heartless side of me.

Oops! I said too much :frog:
