:o :o :o

where have you BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?! lol. i, too, had never heard of it. i actually probably wouldnt have seen it if a friend of mine (whom i wanted to see very, very badly) didnt want to go. but i am SOOO glad i went.

my friends and i actually compare to the characters. i have a friend who is a movie buff, and therefore he is mark. i have a very quiet, reserved friend who (although not a lesbian) is very picky about who she dates-Jo ann. And everyone else pretty much matches, too.

The only song I dont really care for from the movie is "Santa Fe". I mean... it's not bad but I just dont like it much.

and I know what you mean about the only singing someone's part thing. whenever I listen to the "Wicked" soundtrack I only sing Elphaba's parts, unless there is a song i LOVE. then i'll sing with it.

I haven't actually seent this movie the whole way through, I've seen anything from La Vie Boheme to the I'll Cover You Reprise, I love the song Take Me or Leave Me, it's kinda funny to sing in a public place with a friend, sorta re-enacting it  But my number one fav. song is I'll Cover You Reprise, almost cried when I saw that part, I've learned it so that I can sing it tomorrow for my Grampa's memory.

i know every song on the CD by heart (except for "Without You". That one gives me problems for some reason.) I also dont know the end of La Vie Boheme. But everything else I know. You should really watch the whole thing sometime, Chernabog_Rocks.

Hey everyone! BIG bump!!!

Anyway, I've never seen the show or film, but I rented the OBC CD and one of the songs, "Voice Mail #5," mysteriously wasn't working. I was wondering if anyone possibly had an mp3 of it so that I could hear it. The rest of the songs are amazing! I really want to see the show or film (preferably the show) so that I can experience/understand it better. Thanks.

Agreed. The movie is pretty awful. The decision to recast the original broadway cast 10 years after they originated the roles made the film look horribly out-dated, irrelevant and redundant.

Well, I appreciate the movie for what it is, an earnest attempt to translate the stage show to a film medium and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I was happy to have most of the original cast (and Traci Thoms, who was just awesome all around, and Rosario, who at least was cute, a competent singer, and a good actress), though they were too old for it. I agree with most of the cut material, though I would have liked to have seen it initially with all of "Goodbye Love" in it. I remember really liking it when I saw an advanced screening, and the fact that there was a receptive dedicated audience helped that, but my opinion on it has lessened a bit upon repeated viewings.

I actually enjoyed the film. I definitely saw room for improvement, but I was glad that it was translated to the silver screen. I think it is a really great story and making it into a movie allowed the story to bee told to people all over the world who don't have the luxury of seeing it on stage. I did, however; see the show on Broadway in the summer of 2003 and it was amazing. I can appreciate both translations of the story.

Can anyone help me in finding an mp3 of "Voice Mail #5"?

I'd really appreciate it.

You know, Voicemail #5 really isn't that important...it's just Roger's mom, Mimi's mom, Mark's mom, and Joanne's dad calling and asking where they are. It's only about a minute long. If you really want to listen to it, go on youtube and type in Voicemail #5.

I just wanted to let everyone know...Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp are going to be reprising their roles as Mark and Roger on Broadway in August. My friend and I are going to be seeing them on the 8th. If anyone else is going to be going the same day, let me know. Maybe we can meet up :)

Also, 2 at the beginning of this month, two of my friends and I went into New York for a Rent pilgrimage. We ate at the Life Cafe, we tangoed where the 11th Street Lot would have been, and we found the would-be Rent loft. We went to Saint Mark's Place and Thompson's Square Park. It was a great trip :D

Even though it may be unimportant to you, I really need it (I have this thing that if it came on a CD, I need the whole CD on my iPod). I found it on YouTube, but it's not like I can put it on the iPod.

Well I was just saying that it's not a huge song. If there is any way for me to send you music files, I can send it to you because I have it on my computer. Do you know of any way?

Sendspace.com (that should work; just make an account and you should be able to send it to me (I hope)).

I just got tickets to see RENT on tour. I saw RENT on Broadway back in 2003 for my 19th Birthday (best birthday ever, by the way). And now, I am going to see the show again, on tour. I got tickets to see the show in Melbourne, FL on April 13th, one week after I see Avenue Q in Tampa. Looks like April will be Broadway month for me, and I can't wait!!

You're so lucky, Simba3!

I'm sure you know Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp will be on the tour playing Roger and Mark!

Uh, actually, that's a different tour starting in 2009. Adam and Anthony are not in the current production.

Um, I almost sh*t myself when I read that! No, I did not know that.

You have shattered my happiness!! Ha ha, it's okay though, I know it wasn't intentional. Tough break though, I would have LOVED to see them.

It's ok, I'm just really excited to go see it again. I hope the touring cast is good. Maybe Idina Menzel will show up for a one night only, special reprisal of her roll. Ha ha, I doubt it, but if she did, I think I would DIE!

Just went and saw the RENT tour last night in Melbourne, FL. This was my second time seeing the show on stage, the first time was back in 2003 when I saw it on Broadway. The touring cast was actually really great and the show was just as amazing as I remembered it!!
