I think she meant before it was put into production so it would never see the light of day. But yes, always refusing to watch it is a good form of boycotting.

But people buy them anyways and can you blame them. I mean it's a way to get the kids to sit still and shut up... am I right? I don't think children care that these sequels are coming out but you must remember that these are family films so they have to appeal good to the adults too.

As far as how I feel about the Disney sequels, I view them as an alternate, sometimes entertaining view of what might happen to the characters of the Disney classics, but if they make sequels to the movies that were produced when Walt Disney was alive, I don't consider them actual, official sequels. How can people make a proper sequel to something that wasn't originally their idea? Although, Disney said that Bambi II is being made using some of the notes that Walt Disney himself wrote but never used.

Animated News had this bit of information on the possible The Fox and The Hound II:

"An insider who has seen the storyboards in progress has let us know that a Fox and the Hound midquel is currently in development at Disney. We're told the story features some sort of circus that looks similar to the backgrounds from the apparently dead in the water Dumbo 2. There is also a new 50-something character with a "big moustache and a nice smile" who runs the circus. The man has a bunch of dogs that "look like the dogs from Balto".

But that is a very old piece of news, posted on the Animated News web site on October 21, 2003. Disney has already cancelled sequels before...

Yeah they "say" that but we all know that's not what Walt intended. I mean didn't he also say "I will never make sequels to my movies" or something like that?

this has gone too far,and if they really had taken some ideas from Walt`s writting, they should had included the bees, the ants,and everything except Flower`s fart

Wait this is another mid-queal that is so... stupid! I guess I say that because I thought they were going to continue the story of when they were adults. Just like Bambi but I guess they're trying to score a ten on the cute factor scale rather than the quality scale.

Wow. And here I thought a Fox and the Hound cheapquel was just a rumor for the longest time.

Disney really must be getting desperate. An abominable follow-up to a classic like Bambi is one thing, but to a mediocre "bleah" film like Fox and the Hound? How many young'uns even know about the original?

So yeah... I'm with starlioness and KinOO on this. It looks positively craptacular!

I'm also with Paka, starlioness and Kinoo on this. I'm not a big fan of the original, but the work shown so far even make the original look as good as Pinocchio or Dumbo. I don't care if I'm being narrow minded, but Disney doesn't always need to be supported. Remember that aside from the creativity within the company, Disney is a very cruel company, so does that mean we have to support every single thing they do because we like Disney films? No.

The annoying thing is, if Disney did the odd sequel here and there (ie lion king, lilo and stitch and even Bambi, since it looks like alot is going into Bambi 2) then people would actually be looking forward to them....
I actually find myself moaning about the sequels is getting very boring, i just didnt expect it to get this bad (ie destroy just about everything), i dont think i'll bother ranting on about them anymore......

What pisses me off so much is that Disney could be using their money for far better things than this (like, for example, giving the REAL Fox & the Hound a restoration and a 2-disc special edition), yet continue to waste it on stuff like this. The Disney executives must be lighting their cigars with $100 bills while they weigh their classics down with lackluster cheapquals.

Oh my gosh it does. But that shouldn't be! The animation for Lilo and Stitch 2 was so good! So after doing animation that looked so good, how could they do animation that looks so bad? It doesn't look horrible, but compared to the other animation that Disney's done, it looks bad. I guess it's all the cost-cutting Disney Toon Studio's did.

Actually there have been rumors for a second edition(or as like to call it, second addition) for the original Fox and the Hound! That's why they are releasing this sequel to begin with!

Personally I thought the first one was awful, so I don't mind a sequel to something forgettable like this, however I agree that overdoing the sequels are a BAD idea, and making a sequel to a rather unsuccessful film like this isn't the best idea! Lets hope we don't see Pinocchio 2 or Dumbo 2 sometime in the future!

You know I'm the DisneyMania Sequel lover so I have to get this one since the original almost came out when I was born.

I'm only missing Peter Pan 2: Return to Neverland and Cinderella 2.
I might get another The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea.

If we are sending any message to the folks at Disney, it is that we are confused and insane group of fans.

Disney Exec 1: Oh, it must be because it is 2D animation. Thank god we stopped making it then.

I'm just as confused. Everybody who has posted so far, with a few exceptions, is slagging off a movie they haven't seen based on a few screencaps. I've looked at those same caps and though "Yay - 2D animation still has a home somewhere. Ooh, it looks so bright and vivid".

Yes, there is always the risk of it being bad, but what are we basing that on? A couple of misfires almost 12 years ago? All of the people that complain haven't seen the last few sequels, which have all been pretty damn good. Plus they perpetuate the precious 2D which we can't live without because, as you all know, 3D is just as evil as sequels and is ruining our lives apparently.

No wonder Disney enjoys annoying its fans on a regular basis: if they keep doing it, maybe the insane ones will go away.
